Moving to the UK... need amber tail lamp lens'.
I just found out a week ago that we are going to be moving the family to the UK and I will be taking my 2LT with me. Apparently it will need amber tail lamps to be legal in England... Can ANYONE point me in the right direction? I have searched around and there are prototype pics from down under but there seem to be no way to actually pic them up yet. I do not want some hack body shop "making" my car UK legal while screwing up the Camaro. Does anyone have any leads?

See if this helps
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1238741 Looks like he made his own lens with a dremel. Will you also have to do one of the backup lights turned to red too? |

Not sure about the b/u lights... I was only informed of the amber tail lamps and possibly a rear foglamp.

I think the rear foglamp is what skuttduck was referring to. You could take one backup light and put a red lens over it and re-wire it to be on whenever the fog lights are on.
But this I know for sure, you certainly will be the coolest new kid on the block!

There are specialist companies over here that are using LCD amber light bulbs added into the original light housings to create the amber colour necessary.

So, you're saying you need Amber Lamps?

When I took my Camaro (4th gen) over to England, I had the backup lights replaced with amber bulbs and hooked those up as the turn signals...then had to have the fog light in the back like others have said. Another thing I had to do was have the headlights aimed the other directions. The headlights actually aimed slightly to the right to avoid pointing at on coming drivers...so I had to have them pointed to the other side of the road since I was going to be driving on the opposite side of the road.
My suggestion is to find a good shop near a US military base, as they probably do this stuff all the time. I was able to find a shop that was authorized to do warranty work for Chevrolet and they did all the conversion stuff for me. |

I have a 2SS in the UK at the moment, had to have the lights sorted before I was allowed to use it. I will post some pics/video of the lights working, but basically you have to get amber flashers(Achieved by putting yellow LEDS behind the red lens), you also have to have side flashers(mine are next to camaro wording) and you will need a rear fog lamp(replaced one of the reversing lamps). Where abouts are you moving to in the UK? ![]()

i have yet to find a need for rear fog lights...? what are they other than brighter rear running lights?
personally i think i would put my side markers on the side of the mirror, if that was possible, or maybe centered below the word camaro. i also like the placement of phantoms

I'm from the UK too but live on the East Coast. I would LOVE to bring my black 2SS home with me one day, but at 80 quid per 19 gallon tank and averaging 13.6mpg per my latest readout, this puppy would cost me a BUNCH of money!!
Good luck to you, I can't imagine the fun you will have though racing those Nova's and Astras that you KNOW will challenge you at every possibility! Everyone will love it, have fun! |
