That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, because if it's going to get infected the pain is worst. Luckily I've never experienced infected tooth pain myself, but from what I've been told and seen it must be horrible.

That must have sucked waiting that long, hopefully I won't have to wait longer than a week or so if the dentist chooses to avoid installing the crowns at the time I get the root canal done.

I'm not giving my gf a choice though. She caused this, so she's coming. I'll even grab her wrist and force her to stay in the room. And if it's going to hurt after wards, then I'll go hulk ass on her.

Right now, I'm just hoping that the general consensus from the other doctors will be that there's a possibility to avoid it and have another option

Well I've already seen him, and have been told that if I wait he may be forced to do an extraction. Honestly, f*** that.

It's just that there's quite a few dentists in my neighborhood that I'm going to visit, once my insurance o.k.s it. I just want to get a variety of opinions.

Like I just want to see, maybe another dentist will say that all I really need is a crown.

I love how the first post after the OP scared the hell out of the OP.
Don't deny it 2000v6. lol

Ok, take it from someone who had had 4 of these things done.

It doesn't really hurt per se' but it's uncomfortable. And when he's done, it's over. You may have a tad bit of soreness in the gums from the needle that injects the novicane but that's it. My dentist doesn't even offer pain medication after a RC. It should be fine. It's just the drilling that freaks everyone out.

And yes, the temporary comes later, and the permanent even later.

Yeh, of course it scared me. First, I hate dentists. Second, it may delay the release of my album and therefore ruin everything that I've worked for.

Honestly, I'd rather go skydiving

Hmmm... I wonder if it's going to be o.k. for my gf to give me a lap dance while the doctor is going to be torturing my teeth

How long did the dentist work on each?

My sister had one and hers was not as painful as she thought it was going to be.

Go to an Endodontist - they specialize in root canals. I was so scared I was in the fetal position. There was absolutely zero pain. They are experts with numbing the area and getting it done efficiently. ZERO PAIN!

About an hour on each. Give or take. They were spaced apart. Never had 2 in one visit.

Yeh, I know. That's one of the people that I want to get an opinion from. But even if my insurance won't o.k. it, the place I go to has several different types of dentists. The one that I go to is basically the general dentist, he basically knows a little of everything and doesn't know a lot about anything

Well it's either the lapdance, or me thinking about how much I want to punch this sucka after he's gonna be done working on my teeth

And you don't need pics of me skydiving, just come to nyc and we'll go skydiving over the west side

In a way, I wish that teeth were kind of like a car part. Sure they would need to be fixed, but there would be no reason for anesthetic as they wouldn't have any nerves or anything in them.

All I can tell you is I've had one and don't plan on another. It took 3 1/2 hours and the novacane wore off half way through (Mutha F*****). I was hanging from the ceiling like a cat that just got attacked by a pit bull.

Why did it take 3.5 hrs? I've heard stories like this happening when doing root canals was something brand new.

But nowadays it's only supposed to take up to 1.5 hrs each tooth, depending on who does it. And the way that me and my dentist work is that I raise two fingers when I actually feel pain and he increases the dosage

If you have pain during a root canal the person doing it sucks! Make sure and go to an Endodontist.
