I had this same issue near the gills and on the lower rocker panels. I just noticed it after driving the car throughout the winter (8000 miles) I took my car into the dealer and they offered to buff out what they could, touch up the rest, and they offered to put down a custom cut clear vinyl all at no charge. Not to mention they said they would put on my chrome gill trim while it was there. Sucks that I have the issue but the dealership is great for addressing it.

Guess I should have clarified. They will "work" on black. They won't look good though. Black shows way to much of your imperfections. I don't see how you could keep the edge of the bra looking nice and not noticable. Not if you are trying to keep it waxed. Anyway, just my opinion but I don't think it would work aesthetically on black. Granted, the chips don't look any better. Guess you have to choose your poison.

My clear bra goes on Monday: front, mirrors, and rocker panels. I can't wait for my baby to be protected. I was thinking of leaving off the piece that goes across the hood because of the seem. Doesn't seem to be much splash onto the hood that I've seen so far and it would be nice not to have a seem. Any thoughts?

Could people please start posting some hi-res pics of their cars with the clear bras on? I am curious to see how noticeable or non-noticeable it really is.

If you google 3M clear bra you'll get plenty of info. Mine is being installed at the local Porsche dealer on Monday, i'll post pictures then. If you search on here you will also find other threads discussing clear bra as well. Some with pictures, if memory serves me....

I have two chips on my hood big ones even... I'd do it. I plan to do it once I can get a good clay bar treatment and then afford the clear bra...

yep, i had a thread about this last week. I don't even drive the car much and only in good weather, and I already have a number of chips around the gills. there is no protection from these and the hips flare out so much. It's a great design, but it's not practical if actually drive the car. I suppose I could get the 3M shield in that area. Even the people with the "mud flaps" say they still get them. it's very frustrating and yes, the paint is thin and has a number of defects.
