mobil oil filters
has any one here used a mobil1 oil filter on there ss. i changed my oil this weekend and decided to use a mobil oil filter. the filter was tight as i screwed it on (it was not cross threaded). i filled the car up with oil and started it. oil started squirted oil all over the car. i was just wondering if anny one has had any issues with one on a 2010 camaro. i use them on my z28 and never had any problems. and yes i put oil on the seal that seams to be the first question i get form every one

Could just be a freak filter. I had that happen years ago on my Z28. It scared the crap out of me when I looked in my mirror and saw a cloud of white smoke following me. The filter looked fine when I removed it.

Yes I use Mobil One oil filters on my 2SS without any issues. I typically put mine on, with oil on the seal, then tighten by hand, then put my end cap filter wrench on it - tightening it 3/4 more of a turn.

Good filters, use to use em allot till they got hard to find and the selection of filters went down.
Some reason no one carries but a few oil filters anymore, instead of a whole isle full. |

I'm a fan of Purolator, Bosch and Delco. Easy to find and good quality.

Always make sure that the rubber gasket comes off with the old filter. If it does not, and you screw the new filter on over it, exactly what you described will happen.
I found that out the hard way... |

I used one on my last change and it has worked great so far. I wonder what happened with yours?

Nothing wrong with the ACDelco filter that was designed for the car. Plus if anything goes wrong while on the road, tow it in to any dealer and get a warranty repair. Show up with an aftermarket filter and get an estimate.
Any other brand and your just spending more money. Plus who know if it was designed for the same micron filtration? I'll bet if you took two high mileage fleet vehicles, use ACDelco oil filters on one and K & N on the other. At 200,000 miles the only difference would be a lighter wallet by one of the owners. |

This totally sounds like you left the old seal on the car.. It is easy to do, personal experience. It will not seal with two seals in place, it will do exactly what you described.
