Did they hurt. I was reading on some dentist's website that they take weeks before they feel normal.

I'd imagine that they are kind of like braces. Right?

Fortunately, I won't have to worry about the cost, that will be footed by my career eventually. As far as I will care, the dentist that will do them will be able to charge enough money for a phantom.

Alright I gotta find something out though. If teeth stop hurting because there is no nerve in them anymore, then how come people complain about pain? For example some of my gfs (not the one that caused this), some friends, mother, sister complain that they feel pain.

Also, I was wondering what are some other options than crowns for teeth that have simply worn down and become jagged? They are in the top left part of my mouth, so I guess that they are molars. They are not chipped or broken, though I didn't get an x-ray done, I made sure to ask my dentist.

I was also wondering how would I go about finding the right endodontist? I mean, I live in nyc where there are hundreds of thousands of private practices that happen to do root canals. Even when I narrow it down to just the endodontists that's still a s***load of them

If you get a few side by side then yes, they feel weird for a while. Weeks and even months. The ones on my top left still feel a little funny. Almost like they are loose, yet they are definately NOT loose.

As far as do they hurt, that's where my teeth are super sensitive. I actually had to get numbed up to replace them, where the dentist said some people don't. (When the permanents comein that is) AND they are STILL super sensitive. Except the ones that have had root canals. I had a cleaning a couple weeks ago and the air from the suction and tools with cold water was hell. Hurt like a mother fu.................. it hurt. I almost have to be numbed just for a cleaning. EVEN after crowns. The dentist and hygenist seemed surprised. But it's just hot and cold. I actually put my mouthwash in the microwave for a few seconds. Allways have and still do after the porcelain venears.

If they do it's either a tooth next to the canaled one or it's underneath the tooth. Jaw or whatever.

What bothers me most is that it happened at the worst time possible

So you can file down any jagged teeth on your own.

No it's not that

It's the fact that I got to study for finals, concentrate at work (I happen to have a few jobs), and then go create some hits in the studio at night

He was studying business and was told that as long as he maintained the same grades but also took one semester of physics, one semester of chemistry, and two of biology he could easily gain admission. Also dental school lasts 2 years, if I'm not mistaken. That's one of the reasons why I dread going to a dentist.

The doctors that I know on the other hand, whether they were born here in the states or in europe, all went to highly ranked, actually on par or even better than the ivies, colleges in europe where the schools actually concentrated on premed. They then came here and went to the best of the best medical schools, and studied under the best doctors during their residency periods. (I don't know though, maybe I'm just lucky to know such doctors)
Good luck to your friend if he tries to get in, but he won't be easily accepted. It is more difficult to get into dental school than into med school. Now, I did not say that med school is easier, I said getting in is easier. That is, of course, if you have the grades for either one. The applicant pool for dentistry is a lot bigger. Why? Because a general practitioner M.D. makes about $75-85,000 less than general dentist per year, and that does not account for the fact that an average dentist works 34 hours per week while the doctor works 66 hours per week. Yes, I said that docs make $75-85K less per year. In general there are 35 applicants for every spot in dental school or about 2%. Med schools admit about 5-6%.

There is a slim possibility that you could get in without a B.S. degree, but it is very very rare, and in fact I almost never hear of this any more. You can have any degree, it does not have to be in Biology or Chemistry, though that is what most people have. He will also have to get a good score on the DAT (dental admissions test).

In the United states dental schools are 4 years to become a general dentist, that is a D.D.S. or D.M.D. The longest time you could spend would be 10 years, plus the 4 undergrad (total of 14 years) for an oral surgeon. There is no difference in the degree. Some schools (Louisville - my school) confer a D.M.D., others the D.D.S. It goes back to Harvard University. At the time that Harvard decided to start a dental school all school conferred a D.D.S. Harvard only gives out degrees in Latin and thedidn't like the translation of the D.D.S. (Chirurgae Dentium Doctoris), so they just made their degree Dentariae Medicinae Doctorae or D.M.D.

As for requirements, I know of none that don't require at least 10 hours of calculus based physics (not non calc) 10 hours biology, 10 hours general chemistry and 10 hours of organic chemistry. I would highly suggest that they take way more than that including genetics, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, just to name a few.

He ended up deciding to go in a totally different direction, I think law or something
