I'm pretty sure I'm still being stupid and posting this wrong, excuse my n00bness...I want to know if the 2012 Camaro will have the option to not have a convertible, like whatever the cars are out right now, will that be available in the 2012 Camaro version. I don't mean a hardtop as in a hard retractable roof...I mean just a regular Camaro, no convertible, just updated with new looks.

I don't think it will have new looks but, its definitely not going anywhere. The convertible and Z are just going to add to the camaro lineup, not replace the current one.

If I had the money, which I don't----

I would have a builder saw out the B pillar and make me a Camaro hardtop. That would be so very cool.

The last hard top was a chevy ssr truck, and the engineer is correct about new strenght requiments for roofs. However the SSR truck can past the new requirments. This tells me that market resurch needs to be done since they just squashed the right hand driver version.

Hoping it will look better??? What's wrong with the way it looks now?!

Convertibles are nice, but they're not everyone's cup of tea and these are niche cars like the Solstice and Sky. There's no way they'd force you to buy a convertible only version of a car like this.

As far as your question of it being redesigned..... Really!? In the second model year?! Camaros will remain mostly unchanged visually for quite a few years. Look at how long the 4th gens looked the way they did. 3rd gens ditto. Even the Mustang, it's looked the same since '05 up until this years version came out.

I have never heard of a car company ever ditch coupes and sell convertible models exclusively. The cars we have now will still be offered, relatively unchanged, for years to come. Other variations may be added, and maybe a trim level removed (it happens now and then) but the current body style is not going to be dropped.
