Ok, now that I've read about 100 "Boo Hoo... it's too expensive for what it is!!" posts, I feel like I have to weigh in a little bit. The articles from the major rags say it better than I ever could. It's got great bang for the buck and feature content. The 4th Gen was pretty stripped down, even in fully-decked-out mode. I'm sure if that's more of what you're looking for you could find one used for a decent price. Oh, and FYI, the 1998-2002 Camaro Z28s weighed a little closer to 3650. At least that's what my 99 weighed with T-TOPS and M6 tranny.

I get that it isn't priced down in the mid 20s for the V8 like so many were hoping for, but neither V8 is a stripper model to begin with. That's not what this car was about from the earliest days of concept-to-production. We've been being told all along that the feature content was through the roof, the performance would be stellar in both V6 AND V8 trims and that the price would be a little higher than Mustang due to being an all-around-better car.

I'd love to compare this thing to a 2010 Mustang, but I haven't seen any Mustang specifics yet. The Challenger to me is an "Also Ran". It's got style and "Retro Cache" but it lacks the substance to go with the flash. Sorry, but that's my opinion. Why would I spend 36,500 or so for a Challenger R/T that wasn't as fast as a 2SS/RS with more features, better looks and higher performance?!

I just can't believe that anyone would say that this thing doesn't have the features content or performance to match it's price. I want some of whatever you're smokin'!!!! I've got a Trailblazer SS that cost more than a FULLY OPTIONED 2SS/RS AND YET lacks the content. I'll sell that to you for the price of a 1SS!!!!

Sorry for the rantiness, I just get tired of reading people posting like they want this thing for free. As the saying goes, "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?!"

-Tim

A 2LT Camaro is a HELL of a lot of car for the money. When you look at the whole program, there is a lot to choose from to make your Camaro unique. We 4th gen owners see ourselves come and go all day long.

Well, in an advertising sense, this 5th Gen, according to everyone is "overhyped." IMO, that means that only a couple commercials or events will be needed to start. Once the Camaro hits the streets, people will see them and they will begin selling themselves.

Knowing you, I assume you are being sarcastic. We (the enthusiast community) are so in tune to anything 5th gen that the smallest bit of news gets out to us. I can see how some people here are sick of all the 5th gen news. That is not so for 99% of the general public.

This car will have to be marketed and marketed well. To add to this, GM is going to have to find innovative ways to market this car since everyone Tivo's TV shows so they can skip the commercials.

Did any Indy attendees notice the TV screens when filling up at the Speedway gas stations? Perfect spot because you have a kept audience with nothing better to do while filling the gas tank. GM should buy up all the screen time at Speedway gas stations and feature all the new products.

All of the enthusiasts DO get all the news!

It does need to be advertised. And I remember at Indy when they were talking about people tivo'ing everything these days...skipping over the commercials. I just hope the commercials don't follow suit of the new Traverse commercial. Sorry, but a handsome guy that does everything does not equate to a Travers. I know what they are trying to do....get the females to take note of a hot looking guy only to have the commercial go to the Traverse... Even my wife was hoping to see something different. But, GM does need to advertise....and more so than commercials.

Thanks to slick marketing we're stuck using IBM PC Compatible computers running Microsoft operating systems and watching Blue Ray movies in HD, when we could have had a lot better stuff only cheaper.

So, building a cheaper mousetrap has little to do with sales success, in spite of the fact your mousetrap is as good or even better....
Anybody remember the Chrysler "K" car? Pure marketing selling pure junk.

I would just like to point out as a New Yorker the OP DOES NOT represent us in any way and his view should be taken as his alone.

Most of us would do a little homework before making a post like that, maybe hit the ol' ford and dodge websites and find out the small difference in price there really is between equivalently contented vehicles.

Oh and BTW 300 hp is 300 hp whether its from a V6 or V8, you don't scold the other competitors for only having 300 hp from a V6. If anything you should scold Ford for giving a dog of a V8 that only has 300hp, and nailing you for a ridiculous increase in price to pick up a Shelby car to get a factory Mustang that can even catch the Camaro.

Before you make a post on a site like this about a car being priced "ludacris" you should do a bit of homework, you will find walking in to a gunfight with a knife will never work in your favor.

The guy has decided to buy a Camaro 2LT/RS. He's ordering the car TOMORROW. I think we've convinced him enough.

300hp, 28mpg. Sounds good to me. I'm not buying it to race it anyway. My days of trying to beat the other guy off the line at the stop light are well behind me.

major cons of the new CAMARO are:
1) no removable top
2) not well designed interior
3) steering audio control is not a standard feature
4) slightly heavy car

fix the above and it is a greate car

number two is quite subjective. Comparing it to the other pony cars, most think its quite nice actually.

I can see people arguing about the ford fans ranting on the DI V6, but the only reason the GT is only 300 HP is because of tradition, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the 1st gens stangs 300 horses

I fell as do you can't rant on the GT because of its HP
