Is there a big difference between the stock shifter and the short shifter? Is it really worth it?

Somewhere in anotehr thread John Cox replied and said the Hurst will retain the stock shifter knob. Likely there will be no visual difference between the Hurst and the standard shifter.

I personlay would like a metal gated setup I think it would look cool, or maybe an embossed leather knob to match the interior, but the stock style is fine.
