during shifts it can back off the timing a bit (if needed) to keep the wheels planted...."no lift shifting" is an element of that. the better part of the auto system being moved into the stick system.

^ I second that.
Until then, fasten your seat belts and hope that the "numbers" we want can be proven. I will be happy to have an engine that has the potential for "improvements" and add more HP/TQ later. Starting with 430 HP stock for the 30K price is just a plus. |

For anyone in doubt, take a look at the ACTUAL 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of the Pontiac G8 GT. It has ~50 less hp and there have been people getting them down to 13.3 or maybe lower now stock. The GXP will be in the 12's for sure, and it still has around 20-25 less hp than the Camaro will have. Oh, and they weigh around the same. So people not understanding how, or it not adding up, look at the G8. The Camaro will be mid-high 12's easy....good drivers with freakish cars will be low-mid 12's. Done.

I was reading the latest Automobile magazine (great writeup on the V6 Camaro in there by the way) and there was an article on the CTS-V and the auto version was faster to 60 and faster in the 1/4 mile.
So, now I start to wonder what the story is with the Camaro. It's got similar hardware. |

Im with Holden WM... all the way... he's got an LS2 GOAT... it's pretty much the car were looking at just the Camaro has "evovled" a little more... Those GOATS were even advertised faster in the auto form... but we'll see soon enough...
I just want to know what someone thinks are the realistic times 0-60? I highly doubt any 4.3's or 4.4's but I could see 4.5's and 4.6's all day long... |

First of all we'll never know which is quicker until the cars are tested side by side by professional drivers. Secondly, most people can't launch either a stick or auto well enough to make a 1/10 of a second advantage matter. I'm by no means a great driver bu I do race a lot at the track and I still have bad launches from time to time.
But for arguments sake, a torque converter will overcome any advantage the M6 will have (if any), of coarse it won't be stock then. |
