I did mine over the phone also. My dealer isn't within driving distance though. Just curious...what is considered driving distance in New Jersey and Pa.?

I'd assume it's a matter of personal opinion. This dealer is about an hour away, which isn't bad at all. I just don't have the time for a few days to make the trip.

But for my last Camaro I drove a little over 2 hours. Ended up not purchasing through them though. Ended up getting a closer dealer to bring it down here to their dealership (and a better deal) instead.

When you did yours over the phone, what kind of confirmation did you have/get afterwards? That is my only fear that they will get my money and I'll end up getting a confirmation that's different than what was said on the phone.

The ONLY thing about the guy that worried me was that he kept saying I would get the car at List/MSRP, but wouldn't actually SAY numbers. He kept telling me I'd get it for the price I saw in front of me on the computer (I told him I had the price list up at the time). That's why I confirmed that he was seeing the same amount I was of $37,275. And he said yes he has the same thing. I just thought it was odd that he didn't want to say actual prices.

Could this be because he is worried there is a chance they may change before the car is released and he doesn't want to commit to something that could be lower?

You could do a drop ship as mentioned above. I think it is $200. My dealer here in Florida is allocated 46 and is asking MSRP vs my local dealer of 8 cars asking +$6k over.

They emailed me a copy of the order sheet and an order number. I also have a receipt for my deposit and an email stating I get the car at factory MSRP.

My dealer is 7 hours away.

I ordered over the phone and put the deposit on my debit card. He mailed me a receipt for my debit card and e-mailed me the GM Order Workbench forms to comfirm.

Went easier and smoother than I could have imagined.

I also got all terms written in an e-mail with business "letterhead"

I wouldnt worry much about doing it over the phone...

A couple more I can't think of off the top of my head. But they were already through their initial allotment.
I received an email from Perry Egan a couple of months ago that they will charge over MSRP. i wouldnt go with them unless they changed their minds.

I sent an eMail questioning this. I asked if they could fax me a signed statement that they are promising no more than MSRP.

But I did clearly questions many times while on the phone about no more than MSRP. And he stated more than once it would be sold to me at 'List' price.
