is the turbo oil and water cooled? either way i would say you lifted a head. 12psi is alot imo for a high compression motor.

More than likely you either have a bad seal or oil is backing up in the drain, which could be caused by the crank case pressurising under boost. Have you pulled the intake tube to check the play on the shaft?

this is usually a sign of a thrust bushing or bearing (inside the turbo) that's going out.

which is the main reason why I won't mess with turbos anymore. I use to have a couple of '87 Bucik Grand Nationals and they were awesome cars. but every now and then I would see the same blue smoke from my exhaust and I knew it was linked to another turbo problem.

I got tired of having to have new bushings installed at roughly $400 a pop. my Maggie supercharger won't never have those issues....

also, there's is no way I would run 12psi on a stock bottom end engine. that's plan suicide.......

Raw oil burned in a hot turbine comes out the exhaust as white-ish smoke.

I am with you there......

OP, how is the oil returned to the pan? I remember on the old GN's the return line would get clogged and cause this same issue.

You do not need a turbo timer .. the car below... I race it a 1.2 bar it has 850 HP and I don't have a "turbo timer" on it and I get plenty of hard life out of my turbos....

Is there a pump on your turbo or is it gravity feed ?How are you returning/scavenging the oil out of the turbo?

Update!

Update, I got the car back over the weekend and it seems the smoking issues were resolved. A breather filter was added in place of the oil cap along with the catch can in line with the return. I'm also not taking anymore chances the LSX block will go in after April 1st..

Thanks fellas for the input

Sorry I found this post so late. I too had that issue with white smoke even had some blue under hard throttle. I had to do the same thing add alot of filters and completely let the engine breath from every spot it could. You should be good now. Great looking car dude and I know you are loving that boost.
