And the Camaro has offered and auto tranny from the beggining. Some have shiffted a lifetime worth of gears and don't have to prove anything.
The below comments are not directed at you. Just some observations.

My wife and I were talking about this, and she said it sounds like a V8 automatic is like having a motorcycle with training wheels.

I've done this a couple of times on this board, but watch out when you point out that buying the V8 automatic version is fail, based on the same reason people point out the v6 is fail.

It is 400 horses v8 auto verses 426 v8 manual, not only that, you paid more for less It isn't nice to point out the persons choice wasn't the top of the line now is it?

I love my v6 manual, and it is one hell of a car.

With that said, GM would have been foolish not to offer automatic in these cars, since the majority of the US can't drive manual. There are also many reasons people can no longer drive manual due to injuries etc.. I would have been disappointed had automatic been the only choice available.

Bingo, I have a manual 91 RS which is a pain to drive sometimes as I have had surgery on my left knee. Too much effort goes into holding the clutch and it kills some days to do it. Which will end up being the reason why I would prefer an Automatic over a Manual when I decide to buy. That extra $1000 will be worth it to me.

IMO
or.......a v6 with just 304hp as opposed to the v8 with 400+ hp is a pretty good sports/muscle car to start off with if you dont have enough experience under your sleeves

Do your Homework and research your history of the Camaro IMO.

Camaro has come in a V6 many times over the years.

People that bought the V6 Have their reasons, and people that got the V8 have their reasons, just as the ones that got the Automatic have their reasons and ones that got the manual have theirs.. None are bad reasons as long as they are happy with their choice.
All I can say is those that put down someone for getting what they did are really sorry people. Be happy for them that they got a Camaro and shut your pie hole about putting people down for their choice...

Everytime I see V8 owners bash V6 owners on this site, it makes me a little sad and a lot uncomfortable. So many of us are going to be together in April at C5Fest, proud of our rides and happy to be part of such a great community, but there will be many "elite" V8 owners laughing and pointing at the V6 owners and talking about how ridiculous they are for not going all out for the V8.

Can't we all just get along and revel in the glory that is the Camaro, regardless of the engine?

Also came with a 2 speed powerglide in both straight 6 and small V8. People don't realize the 327 CIDV8 with the 2 barrel Carb. in the 67 Camaro was very underpowered compared to the V6 in today's Camaro. and the powerglide automatic was a very poor transmission compared the the 6 speed available today...

Guess I'm one of those "sissy boys". This is my fourth Camaro, but the first with the V-6 and fellas let me tell you this baby has more giddy up than any of my V-8 Camaros. I guess this "sissy boy" didn't have anything to prove or compensate for as some of you younger fellas.
