I wanted to get the manual V6 because my wife can't drive a stick. However the dealer had a car with everything I wanted and I had a serious case of gottahaveititis so I went with the automatic.

A friend of mine has the manual V6 and he has had no problems.

Either way you're going to love the car.

It depends on your bank roll and what you need the car for. Although an SS falls just out of my budget, as a student who drives 30 miles a day minimum to school, the V8 is unpractical. If its going to be a weekend toy, you might as well get the V8. If you need it for a daily driver, the 6 is probably the smarter choice.
300 HP is also good enough to make the car faster than most cars you encounter on the road anyway.

When I took mine out for a test drive, I was on a highway and while passing a slower car I was thinking to myself how well this car handles and before I knew it I was pushing 100 MPH.
On my last trip down to Florida I averaged 27.8 MPG for a 6 hour trip with probably 30 minutes of non highway time and probably averaging between 80 and 93 MPH on the Highway. To all my Law Enforcement friends this Thread is mere speculation

V6 automatic, with today's technology is the way to go.
Why shift when the numbers show they run about the same.
Less insurance.
More mileage.
Cheaper to maintain.

All I can tell you is that i have the V6 with the auto tranny and I have no problems getting up to speed or passing either. You won't be dissapointed by it.

the manual V6 feels stronger off the line, and puts down slightly higher RWHP.

Love mine.

It really depends on what you need it for. I am in love with my car.
The V6 is absolutely at home at the track! I have gotten nothing but from folks at the track! I actually met a GM engineer from GM Racing at the track who was excited to see somebody out running a V6!

Even if you buy a V8 and got to the track, you still won't be the fast one there... there will always be some one faster!

Love mine.
I had Vince make a little tweak to my tranny tune today... As it turns out at light throttle the car was shifting from 1st to 2nd at 7 MPH, even in (S)port mode! He bumped it up to 13 MPH... Now that little change may not seem like much of any thing BUT here's the thing... Ok.. so say I'm stopped at an intersection, making a turn... Normally what I would do is kind of ease through the turn and wait to get the car straight before getting on the gas... That way i can get a nice, safe, straight acceleration... thing is by the time I was through the turn I've hit the 7 MPH and the car is now in second... so getting on the gas in 2nd feels no where as strong as 1st gear... So NOW with Vince's adjustment, I can ease out, make the turn, get straight and still be in 1st gear... so NOW when I get on the gas, I'm taking off in 1st GEAR!! WHOOHOO!! What a difference!
