Initially I thought so too but no, they are installing the rCG and W Rally stripes and only for the leather seated cars.

If I were ordering stripes which were dealer installed, I'd ask the dealer, if they're not comfortable laying down the stripes, would they negotiate the price down, the cost of the stripes, minus what a shop would put them on for.

I have - my brother owned a 10th Anniversary Firehawk with gold stripes, (not painted) and I Zainoed them along with the rest of the car. (Just be careful not to get any white wax residue around the edges if you're using wax.)

Im thinking about getting them painted caus ehte stiped already cost near 500 and il pay the little difference to get them painted and cleared and last forever and not have to worry about waxing and all that jumble. My dealer said he could get his painter that he out sources to, to probably do them for around 600 and he does great work ive seen it before on lots of high end cars.

He also said for all the striped they have to put on he is bringing in a guy that does it for a living at his shop to come in and do it for them so it is correct.

I just realized that the stripes go over different contours of the hood too. How in the hell is anyone supposed to get the edges of the stripe straight? As the stripes go over the high areas of the hood, aren't they going to get narrower? There is more surface area to cover.

I wonder if the stripes are wider in those areas? If that's the case, if you don't get the strips perfectly positioned, then the edges will be wavy. The vinyl will also have to stretch somewhat to cover those larger areas. That could also make the edges not straight.

I think I'm talking myself out of dealer stripes!!!!!!

Take a good look at a 1981 Z/28. Now THAT car has a pile of stripes which run along many different contours with no problems. GM has been using Vynil stripes on Camaros since 1977. What is the problem here?

I need answers to how stripes are installed properly.

I guess until I can see somebody's work, I'll be very worried about the quality of the job if I take my car to an unknown shop.

We'd be in my boat; trying to find someone local to redo it.

The next time you are at a car show, look for a restored '80 or '81 Z/28 and ask him who did his stripes. The stripe packages offered on the 2010 Camaro are a walk in the park compared to doing original stripes on a 80-81. Z/28.

GM has a mobile team in the Northern Va area that ONLY does this kind of thing.
My dealer was extremely confident that they would do a great job.

I actually prefer a local professional to do it vice the factory.
I just saw a 2009 Challenger SRT with several bubbles from the "factory"

69-er if they are saying they have reservations about doing it, at least they are being honest. See if they have an outside shop they use for stuff like that... make some kind of arrangement.

The dealers will have a learning curve putting stripes on this car. I doubt there are many people in the dealerships still around that put them on the 2nd gens 30 years ago. Above all GM does NOT want a bunch of shiny new camaros out there with messed up stripes on them. They will work with you even if you have to pm fbodfather to work something out.
