I wasn't moving. Got hit by an SUV. Details in this thread:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68306

It's intersting that many of these types of accidents show similar results, and that points to how well designed these cars are made to absorb and deflect the damage.

Even though in my case it was a hard hit, stuff basically pulled away and back from the frame to aborb the hit. Frame was untouched, and even some pieces on the front that I thought were damaged ended up not to be.

Good to know no one was hurt in either case. Kudo's to the designers at Chevy for designing a beautiful and safe beast. :flag1:

If it is totaled and you do happen to buy it back your best bet is to see what they are going for or auction it off imo...
I totalled a 2004 Cobra, I bought it back for 5,000 and sold it just as it was for 16,000.
The ins co. arrived at 5000 price by calling a salvage yard and asking them for an offer, which was 5000.
Said and done I made about $12000 profit...I considered it payment for pain and suffering...it was 1 of 281 made. :(
Not sure how that works if gap coverage is involved though.

Doesnt seem logical to me for a 16 year old that just totaled an LT to go out an buy an SS now. Seems like it would be asking for more trouble. Im 16 as well and if i crashed a V6, thered be no way in hell id be getting an SS. Sorry for the loss of the car, itll be replaced!

Sorry to hear! Hopefully no one got hurt and that's what counts - make it a tough lesson learned...

:(

No offense intended, but Ferrarimk13 is correct, IMHO

I was driving to a friends house at about 10:00 pm going around a blind curve at around 50 mph, several deer were going across the road at the same time. I turned closer to the shoulder not wanting to hit the deer and the rear tires lost traction forcing me to go off the road. Knocked down a couple trees. The car is totaled due to frame damage. Me and my friend are alright besides a few bruises. Airbags deployed and onstar worked perfectly. Id recommend onstar to anyone, called right away and sent over a state trooper after verifying that we were alright. A lot of people came out from the houses around and they said it sounded like a bomb went off. I had not been drinking or anything its just one of those things that unfortunately happens. GM did a great job with the safety of the car especially with the 5 star front collision rating. We are having alot of issues with the insurance right now and when its cleared up ill let yall know what the deal is. Definitely getting another camaro, used SS or new 1lt or 2lt. Funny thing about it is we were looking at the deer whistlers earlier that day... Thanks everyone. Also im 17, not 16 and the previous accident was not my fault.
