License Plate Covers / Removal ?? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I know nothing about taking a personal vehicle to a track and I'm pretty sure their will be other first timers too.

Some have mentioned removing their license plates while at the track, so this thread is to gather more information on this subject.

I would rather have some sort of cover preferably made out of cloth to just put over my plate but could not find anything on the web.

Questions:
Does it really matter to cover/hide your plates?
If you do hide your plates what method do you use?
Should you cover up your VIN also?

Hmmm...been to the track many times with many cars...never even thought of it?

Guess you'd do this for insurance purposes?

Like I said, never have and no problems with anything for me...insurance wise or other.

I have never heard of anyone removing or covering the plate.

From what I remember reading it was more about stock vehicles that could be denied warranty work due to track abuse. Or something...

I know the saying you play you pay, but all I plan on doing is a few laps around the auto-x and will probably have the slowest time of the day.

I guess I just want to have some fun but not get my car on any "abuse" list.

Don't worry about it. The car is built for it and chances are you already drive it as hard on the street as you will on the track. Nobody hides thier plates at the track. Just run it and have fun.
