Think of it like a black exterior. It will be a pain some of the time, but it will be totally worth it if you can maintain it well.

I would recommend staying away from light colored leather. I had a 96 Impala with perforated, gray leather seats and a gray dash. Hairline cracks around perforations in the leather attracted dirt like crazy and the dye in the dash deteriorated into a splotchy brown. I plan to stick to dark interiors, though the availability of the white interior on the convertible concept would change my mind (at least the dash is dark colored).

Yeah. Im in Vegas and I still got Black exterior/interior. Just as everyone else has said Tint Windows. Use a Sun Screen. and use the Remote start if available. I plan on keeping two towls on the back seat if it gets extremely hot...which it will...for any females wearing provocative clothing. Haha. I plan on having a lot of them in and out of my Camaro

Ok well thanks to everyone for the advice, I think I will probably go with the black! So as far as maintenance for the interior is concerned, black helps hide the little cracks, but shows dust easier? Mine will be a 2LT so I will try to use the remote start when practical. Just to make sure I understand, it is best to tint windows to the legel limit and get a sun shade for front windsheild? Hopefully the Silver Ice exterior will help a little as well.

yea use the sun shade and get the tint to the legal limit which ironically enough is higher than the annual inspection, meaning that i think the legal limit is 25% but to pass the state inspection you can have as low as 20% lol. stupid ppl. but im not complaining lol and i believe you can but a certain car window sunscreen on the outside which also repells heat but i could be wrong.

My camaro will be silver ice, and I really like the black leather interior but right now I am going with the gray. But maybe the silver exterior will kinda balance out the heat absorbed by the black inside?

Anyways can anyone tell me just how hot the car w/ black interior gets if you leave it outside during the summer? I do like the gray, but IMO the black looks better.
Take a look at the sig. All black (int/ext). Really....it's not that bad at all. I'd strongly suggest putting on some DARK tint to keep some of that heat out....like what I did. It works well.

Really? And you live in Texas. It would seem more plausible if you have another car for your daily driver and don't have to leave the black on black Camaro parked in the sun all day then hop into it after work.

I owned a black Trans Am with black vinyl seats and tinted T-tops for over twelve years. I'd come out of work and open the door during the summer months and get hit with a blast of hot air. It was the first car I ever had with automatic trans and air conditioning, and I'd reach into the stifling hot interior and insert my ignition key and start the car up so I could stand outside while I let the air conditioning blow on high for a few minutes before I could bear to get in. I'd have to hold the key by the edge to avoid touching the chromed tabs on either side of the ignition slot and burning my fingers when I started the car. And even when the air in the car got cool enough for me to get in and start the drive home, my back pressing against the seatback trapped the still-hot vinyl against my shirt and prevented any air conditioning from cooling the seat. So I would try to arch my back away from the seat to allow air to circulate. I guess I have a much different opinion than you do on how hot black interiors are, especially in black cars.

I live just outside the desert area of Southern California and my Infiniti had Black All Leather interior. It never got too hot really. Even when I was in Palm Springs mid Summer. The inside of the car got real hot (Black Exterior also) but the Air conditioner took care of that. As for the seats, they never really felt like they heated up too much.

Go with what you think looks better.

In my experience leather is better. It cool down quickly with the AC and heats up quickly too. On the other hand my car with vinyl is annoying. I get out and my back is freaking drenched in sweat.

No. The black on black is my daily driver. And, it sits out in the sun all day long at work. It just isn't that bad. Sure, it gets hot...no doubt. But, it's not like I can't get in it and drive off w/out feeling like I'm going to melt. Roll down the windows, blow out the hot air w/ AC, roll up the windows and it cools off rather quickly. No biggie at all. Maybe, maybe I'm used to it.

And, to add, the body and interior color in Texas REALLY doesn't matter.....if you can't park in a covered lot during the heat of the day, you WILL be BLASTED by a 110+ degree hit, each and every time you open the freakin' door.

It's just a matter of minimizing the impact.

I hope the Camaro's vent-fans can really bring the cool air in quick!!!

I'm confident that it will be good enough.

On an even funnier note -- the "2SS" leather seats come with "heated seats."

WHY would someone in the hotter climates EVER need heated seats!?!?!?

Save that for those wacky Canadians....

Nice, you know in parts of Canada it gets really hot in the summer parts of Southern BC can hit 45c (113f) on the hottest days.
