You are spot on to question results done in different weather conditions by different drivers. The numbers are good for bench race chatter. |

It just depends on what you want out of the car. Quote:
This is my 5th Camaro and I'd hardly call it "porky". Bigger, yes but not porky.

As for "porkiness", the Corvette doesn't look porky because the side of the car doesn't look like the side of a barn. The Camaro is pretty "tall" in the body. I think it could be a little less fat in that area. As for my comment about the width, it's probably an illusion due to the design of the Camaro so the Camaro looks like a very wide car. I don't necessarily think the width makes it look porky though - mainly the body height.

Porky? Last I checked, a wide stance is a positive attribute for a muscelcar to possess.
As for the fastback, forget it. The "porky" hips on the Camaro are IMO one of the best, most defining features of the car. Oh and say "porky" like 5 more times. I'm gettin into it.

I am in no way referring to the hips, which I actually like (and my fastback sketch also has the hips - corvettes and porsches have fastbacks AND hips). The comment about width was just an off-handed remark that the car looks big (probably an illusion). When I say "porky", I'm actually referring to the height of the body.

Ok, my 2 cents worth. My friends Challenger is the most comfortable of the 3, the Camaro I had for a weekend handled the best of the 3, my Mustang is what I like. When it all comes down to it, what you like is what you are going to be happy with. Would I like to have 800hp, that handled like a Lotus and rode like a Caddie? Well, duh. But it ain't gonna happen, so I drive what I like, and learn to live with the warts.

My arguement is more along the lines: if i had a camaro and someone told me "do you want it with or with out IRS? just to let you know, the IRS is going to weigh down the car about 250 lbs. more." If that were the choice, I would go with a well built/engineered solid axle that handles better, would give the added benefit of better acceleration, puts the power to the ground more efficiently, can generally handle more abuse, and better braking. the only area it may suffer from is if you are really pushing the car in an unknown area and hit some rough roads on a big bend. I think, in this scenario, the benefits FAR outweigh the negatives. |

And actually to me, the Camaro SS seems to be a wide yet slender and sleek fellow. I mean look at it. When I look at that car,....my car, I don't see pork, I see SEXY. The ladies all seem to think so. You want pork,....try a 4-door musclecar.
