What exactly does "2500 Order Preferenced" mean? It looks like some people skip this step? That is where I currently am.

It's just part of the progression through the codes GM uses to process the order. It's all part of validating the order that it's buildable, getting materials in order and scheduling for production. The 2500 status is pretty short before it goes to 3000. Keep checking.
