Thanks everyone - for all your input.

I don't want to make a mistake with my new baby.... She has the Auto L99 motor, and I am not sure about headers in the near future. I already had the dealer give me a price on the street series and we put it into my financing. They made a huge mistake, and only ordered (and charged me) for the axle backs. So I am kind of stuck and need to continue dealing with them at this point. I told them just to reorder the correct system once I figure out what it is that I truly want. I suppose that was a good mistake since you are all starting to change my mind about going with the comp instead of street. Price isn't my concern, I just want to do this right, and in the process -not wake up my neighborhood coming in late at night.

Okay all of you.... Keep telling me stories... I'm still unsure of what to do. My "significant other" just brought home a 2010 Shelby GT500 so you know he is no help at all! I'd rather get advice from fellow F-body lovers! :o)

I've already removed a few GMPP exhaust systems and replaced them with Magnaflow's.... The quality IMHO is sub par. The sound and performance wasn't very impressive either. I'm just not a fan of Borla (Made in Mexico) and they start to sound ratty over time because they are packed with fiberglass opposed to the stainless steel/basalt combo Magnaflow uses. We've got Wholesale accounts and sell to a lot of Dealerships around the country, you can have them contact us and I'm sure our Cat-Back will be around the same price they charged you for the GMPP axle-back. Just an option!

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions!! Can't have the GT500 beating the 5th Gen!

Kind regards,

Okay guys!, you are talking me into the comp series.
I want Silver to be badass!
The "Shelby" in the room is trying to talk me out of it. I think I will go without headers for now. I have other cars to mess with, and since Silver is brand new, changing the exhaust will be enough for now. Any other stories to tell me? This is great... being a part of some F-body love. I am deprived in my town, nothing but a bunch of Ford worshipers around here! LOL!

It sounds much different in person than on that video. The video does not do the system any justice at all. It sound much deeper in person. There is some resonance while driving when under a load, but when you get into cruise mode you can not here it, almost like stock until you get back in the throttle.

This is the sound I was looking for. I would like to do headers in the future, so I will se how it sounds with them before moving onto something else.
How about this video?

That dyno video was awesome. It made me cringe, but it was so exactly what I needed to see!

Okay, so- here we go…. I think I am officially ordering the comp series today.

I understand that it may be cheaper to go to a shop like johnwayne said.... but I already arranged this into my financing at the dealer. So I am committed most of the way, just have to add the extra money because they originally ordered me axel backs. I would rather save my warranty and have the dealer install everything. Money really isn't an issue because this isn't really expensive anyway. I just want it done right, and make sure someone is really standing behind their work. I had some really bad shop experiences when I had Goldie worked on, my '79 Trans Am, so I want to be careful now with Silver...

I am a woman, and I do have blonde hair, and I live in the foothills of North Carolina - so I often have a lot of trouble dealing with independent shops that think I am easy to rip off. ~Terrible but true! Thats why I turned to you all for help / support.
Thanks everyone!

PS-
Just called Magnaflow.
Decibels:
They said our stock exhaust is 82 Db, street series 2.5" is 87 Db, and the 2.5" comp series is just about 97 Db. I asked him to be honest because I was buying one of the systems for sure, and he told me that he would get the comp series for his Camaro.

Not sure if you are getting an Automatic or not. One issue you'll have if you are getting an Auto is the sound when it kicks in the AFM. That will make is sound similar to a 4 banger with a loud exhaust on it. You'll either have to live with it or look at having the car tuned and have the AFM removed.

If you have the Manual trans this won't be an issue because there is no AFM on the LS3.

Yeah, I have an auto. But no worries, I have a great engine guy, and I will have him tune out the AFM. Thanks for warning me. If that is my only issue, then it's an easy one to fix.

Driving around tonight with stock exhaust just made me want the comp series so much more. The car is so quiet, and that is sooo wrong for a Camaro!

It is nicely built and sounds great I think.
Actually, the best prices are from JDP Motorsports (www.MagnaflowPlus.com). Shop around and then call JDP before you buy and you'll see. We aren't talking $20 difference.....you'll be saving a few hundred.

Not sure where you got this from. Mine does not make any type of 4 banger sound once so ever. If you hit that 30 mph spot and play with the accelerator you can make it drone a bit for about 2 seconds. The afm kicks on at very low throttle while cruising and you cant really hear the exhaust at all while it's doing this. I can't tell any difference in the note between afm and using the paddle shifters to keep it off. Maybe you heard some other exhaust system besides the 16580?
