I'm actually amazed when I find a salesman who really does know what he's talking about.

I had a similar situation when I went to purchase a 04 GTO. At the time I qualified for the Supplier discount, so I went to a local dealer ready to buy. Walked in and found the exact car I wanted "Barbados Blue" sitting on the showroom floor. I kept the discount to myself to see what kind of a deal they would offer me. Their "BEST" price was $2k over sticker. I then ask for my discount price, when they tell me the GTO was not part of that program. I hand them the print out from GM stating the only cars excluded were the Corvette and medium duty trucks, they still said sorry we wont be selling you this car. The Manager then gets involved and backs the salesmen 100%, which was not a surprise. My parting words where "So what you are telling me is you don't want to sell me this car?" He said yes and I walked. I called a friend that worked at a dealer in Dallas, told him what I wanted and the price I would pay, and he said when can you get here? He even beat my discounted price. Needless to say I drove to Dallas to get the GTO. I got a phone call about 2 weeks later offering to sell me the GTO at sticker, I laughed and explained the deal I got in Dallas. PRICELESS!!

It is sad to hear way too many people going thru the same BS with the Camaro.

Yeah, but it's his job to know. If my job was just selling cars, I would know alot about my car line up. Plus, they work off commission. I guess I'm just really into cars.
I agree. If youre gonna have a title of a sales man you better know the product your selling very well.

Allocation is easy to find. Why, one dealer can even find out another dealers allocation.

Tell them to email Camaro Scotty...He'll teach them for only one of their allocation.

As of today and until further notice all sales will be MSRP (at least at our dealership)

The question everyone asks is if there will GMS pricing.

Captain Awesome, that sales guy is full of sh#t. He's intentionally lying to keep the allocation for stock.

$30K markup?! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

I hope he didn't say that with a straight face. To make a statement like that in this economy, for a car that has a 6-liter engine and uses premium fuel -- I mean how stupid is that? I don't even think Mike Tyson would waste his money like that, and Mike once spent $9K/month to care for his pet tiger.

I went back to see the sales guy who I normally deal with but he had to leave for a family issue but another sales guy talked to me tonight. My guy is going to call me tomorrow.

However, the guy I spoke with this time was a bit more honest. He said what their allocation is (but he was one lower than the real number for some reason). He said that the General Manager told them NOT to take any sold orders. He said it would not be fair to all the customers who have been asking. Their "fair" solution is to order all the cars for dealer stock and then sell them "first come first served" when they arrive.

It's still obvious what they are trying to do, but at least he was a bit more honest and didn't tell me the big story the other guy did.
