I already looked into the option and was told that getting wax on satin finish would not be good for the part. It would be a ***** to keep clean and you wouldn't be able to wax it. Putting clear over it to protect it would only make the paint glossy and negate the reason for doing it in the first place.

You are the guy I've been waiting for!! I've been planning on doing flat black stripes on gloss black paint, but everywhere I look online I see different opinions of caring for that kind of setup. 2 questions...

1. Are your stripes vinyl or painted (look painted to me)?
2. How do you wash/wax and generally care for the car? Do you have to wax around he stripes, or do you wax the stripes too? Can you go to regular car washes at all?

Okay that was more like 2.75 questions, but I reeeeeeeeally want my flat black stripes and I don't want to get them and screw em up!

finally, i serve a purpose! haha

they are vinyl stripes, i go thro a car wash with them regularly - u can wash the car same as you would normally.

BUT - i did learn this the hard way - do NOT wax them (flat finishes aren't smooth so the wax gets stuck and looks horrible) its easily cleaned off w/ silicon based cleaning products tho.

its a minuscule difference in effort of maintaining the exterior of the car

I LOVE YOU BRO!! (pauses for akward silence)

Seriously though, I've been dying to hear from somebody with real world experience with this kind of setup. I was seriously considering nixing the idea and going with straight black, but now I'm fully confident my beloved stripes won't be an issue at all!! Plus, yours look abso-freakin-lutley GREAT so I know I can get vinyl and don't have to spend a grand for painted ones.

that setup will look incredible on a camaro! i would definately be doing it again but i'm going to try something other than black for once (i've only owned black cars so far lol)

and to some of the other posts:
they sell flat/satin paint that you can use for touch-ups, as well as matte clear for top coats
