Engine cover, painted from factory or not?

If I missed something, I am sorry in advance :(

I have read on here that the engine cover would default the color of the car, and I have read that it would have to be a dealer option....

Which is it? Set the record straight!

there is a base Stock cover that comes from the factory, if you order the engine cover With the car it defaults to the cars color, if you order from the accesories dept at your dealer later you can pick any of the colors offered

I didn't order the colored dealer option....and you said "if you order the engine cover w/ the car" don't they all come w/ the engine cover?

Sorry if I am a bit off today....this has been a hell of a week starting off....

Thanks for being so quick to answer!

It's just the same paint they use on the body....I plan on letting my body guy do this, since he had done my FAST intake, LT1 intake, and many other various under hood items....and it will be MUCH cheaper than $285, will probably look loads better w/ him doing it....

Gray or flat black?

So because the silver SS at indy had a silver and flat black engine cover than means it was a painted one? And the stock cover will be all one color kinda looking like the intake manifold type color?

Could they be painted by us or a body shop in a matching colour?

Personally I like that they come with the bow tie on them...I don't remember seeing the bow tie on the standard engine cover.
