Z28 or SS with Vortech Supercharger

I'm looking to buy a 2010/2011 Camaro, but not sure if I can wait for the Z28. I was thinking of getting the SS and installing a Vortech supercharger I http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=165. What do you all think?

Yeah, I really have no patience and it would be nice to install it myself (with the help from my mechanic buddy), haha!

No regrets, love it! I think all forced induction systems for the 2010 Camaro rocks. The LS motors sure love the boost

I'm personally waiting for Z28. I had a Z06 and it was Way different than the regular Corvette. We're talking about frame, suspension, transmission, brakes, engine and etc.
A Z28 is not going to be a Camaro SS with a S/C bolt on to it. You get the whole package than a S/C.
Just focus on selling those Forged Wheels now and wait for Z28. That's what I'm Doing...

After owning 2 vortech cars (mustangs) 02 GT and 07 GT, I would recommend either the maguson or a kenne bell.

A lot better than a vortech.

One simple answer: Low end TQ

I get it. But it seems like if you want to use a centri and still get some great low end torque you can put on some headers, and tune the computer accordingly and cars that do that have near 600 rwhp and they seem to have almost 400 ft lbs of tq at around 2500 rpms.

Those are kind of general numbers but from what I recall after looking over some dyno graphs of centris with that setup that I described, I'm pretty sure those numbers are attainable.

In that case you can have the linear hp curve that just keeps rising and also a big number tq output from relatively low rpms. Still, I know it's not like the Maggie or K/B that shows a fat, straight-line tq curve from 2000 rpms onward.

I'm happy to see you doing your homework :-)
Here is some info from someone who has had a few F/I
Centris are great for linear acceleration and provides time to hook up. This is important for Drag Racing;
Positive Displacement provide lots of low end TQ which is awesome while in a role in low RPM and for daily drive. If you're not drag racing go with P/D
The third F/I is TT ( and I mean Twin Turbo and not single), because it give you best of both worlds.
Take a look at this post from RPM and study the TQ v.s. RPM and it's a great daily driver and and a racer. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74302

Z_Rocks,

Thanks for the props. I wish I could get paid for enjoying my favorite hobbies. I seem to be pretty good at learning fun topics. haha If only work was like that.

Yeah, that TT setup looks sweet! I love how the TQ is there for the daily driving fun and for racing, when you're in the high rpms in WOT, the HP just keeps producing. Great combo.

For my application, which is 95% daily driving and hopefully some racing, the positive displacement blowers would be the best choice. However, I got offered a great deal with a Vortech setup and it looks like the centri is in my near future.

Should be fun, nonetheless. And I may build the engine too, and if I do that I could always upgrade to the V-7 YSi and go nuts. haha

What's so special about the TT's in that thread? If you plot out the curves of that TT setup vs the other single setups, they are nearly identical. This one does have a higher peak HP and Tq but that's just a measure of the bigger compressor wheels, not the whole system. Adding a bigger turbo to the single systems will net these peak numbers or greater. I'd bet the single is cheaper as well.
