i work in a high level mens jail right on the Mexico/U.S border...shook this place hard...and considering this place is built thick with a lot of security measures, that says it all! no damage here...

That was wild feeling it here in Phoenix. My 125 gal fish tank had a big wave in it.

My Wife was on the phone to our Nephew in Yuma, He said all the cars around him were shaking (stopped), then it hit us in Escondido & just rolled awhile. I was re-wireing some walls that were bad & glad he was on the phone to tell us before hand, or I would have thought I was blowing the house up !

I think it was one of the more impressive quakes I've been in....but it still beats floods, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, freezing rain, looking for your car in the snow & finding out you just dug out the wrong one ! EVERY YEAR ! Screw That !

At first I didn't want to believe...but then it kept going a bit and I got up off of my bed (was reading at the moment) to check on our dogs. It felt like I was dizzy but ran downstairs to guard the doggies...Being in So Cal though, we should already be used to it...Hope everyone's okay!!!

I was just blogging on another site yesterday about bolting my four post lift to the floor.....

Yesterday I changed the oil in the Vette, El Camino and Camaro. With the Camaro lowered about 1", the bottom part of the front fascia hits the wheel stop plate on the front of the lift. So I take them off. Then I realize the bolts actually hold the main drive on rails from moving side to side so I just put the bolts back in and snug them up.

So today I'm out in the garage doing the front brakes on Karen's car with the El Camino and Camaro out in the driveway and the Vette up on the lift. I had the middle door open and there was a nice breeze blowing. I hear the lift "creaking" a little and think "damn I didn't know a small breeze could do that". So it starts creaking even more and now I'm thinking WTF did I do yesterday that could make it sound like that. Another 10 seconds goes by and now I can see the top of the lift posts moving about 1/2' ! WTF, the lift might be falling apart, WTF did I do yesterday that could cause that (I think in about a nanosecond).

So I run over to plug the lift motor in, the lift is making real creaking noises now and I lift it up to release the stops. I dropped that car about 2 feet the fastest I have ever dropped a car on there. I had to stop about 2 feet from the floor since I had a shop vac and fan underneath on the floor. As I'm standing thinking how in the world I could have F-ed something up, Karen opens the door from the house and goes "Did you feel that?". I said "Feel what?", I didn't feel a thing. We just had an earthquake, a 6.9 (now 7.2) down in Baja Mexico. The water in our pool had waves cresting over the edges and it was still moving 5 minutes later.

Next weekend I'm renting a Hilti hammer drill and securing the lift to the floor....

It's moving closer and closer. I hope I'm not working when the norcal one hits...33 floors is a long way to evacuate...

I'm glad everyone is alright.

Wife was at a SoCal Casino playing Bingo while I was at work. Broke some pipes and they stopped calling numbers until the rumbling stopped, and then started right back up. Several other quakes started after the big one. 3.4, 5.1, and a 4.1 all around San Diego.

Yup, upgraded to a 7.2! It was very weird that it lasted forever! We got a little dizzy with the walls & the floors moving! So many aftershocks! What made it worse is that we watched 2012 last night! Oh my!
