No, the difference is the launch. The trap speed is more indicative of the air density conditions and hp produced, and the Camaro managed within 0.5 mph of the Mustang. Given an equal launch, the Camaro should be within 0.1 second of the Mustang. I would still give the edge to the Mustang due to the gearing and higher trap speed, but it is certainly closer than they managed. You can even hear it on their launch how they bogged the Camaro out of the hole.

The main thing that bothered me in that comparison was the complaints about the Camaro styling. They LOVED this car a year ago, the general public seems to be pretty happy with it, but all of a sudden none of these guys think the Camaro is worth owning? I thought that made the write-up seem pretty biased. I think they say whatever is the most surprising to try and sell more magazines. When something changes to bump the Camaro ahead, all of a sudden they will all love the styling again.

Yeah, the styling complaints were really strange - they complained about the Mustang styling and build quality last year and raved about the Camaro. Now the Camaro sux - please. And that was a really pathetic launch in the Camaro, like they didn't even try and the Mustang launch was balls to the wall. Don't get it - I know the Stang is faster but that was kinda lame looking.

Heres Motor Trends new vid comparing the 2010 Camaro SS, 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8, and 2011 Mustang 5.0.

The Camaro comes in third, Challenger 2nd, and Mustang 1st. How they go from saying Camaro is king last year to now it being last is anyones guess. I thought the Camaro would have come in 2nd for sure how the Challenger was picked over it is really weird every other test they did Challenger always came in last. All I know is Chevy better have some new things coming to make the Camaro better soon.

No kidding, that launch was weak sauce. My 17 yr. old cousin launches my camaro harder than that! I hope Chevy has an answer for 2011.

Although motortrend seems biased with thier reporting I got to admit the new Mustang is pretty bad a$$.

everybody is complaining bc it was a biased test. totally different results then what their last comparison test was. just bc the mustang is new engine 2011 model and challenger is the srt 8 now then you automatically dock the camaro then? do a test based on all 2011 models is more fair. Camaro destroyed the field in the last test and are just sitting back and watching waiting for dodge and ford to catch up. Now that they did, let chevy do the same and run the test again.

Plus Camaro just won the 2010 World Car Design of the Year Award, so its been proven that it is an iconic car. so like i said dodge and ford responded after the camaro won the first comparison, so now let the camaro have a chance to catch up too

You are aware that anything beyond suspension and maybe gearing changes will result in a need for new EPA certification, right? They cant just throw in a new cam and heads and say "OK here's our car!"..they would have needed to start that process about..August of last year.

Just remember that you were smart enough to buy the camaro... which obviously is "better" to everyone on this board... who actually drives it daily and can tell you, yes in fact, i love this car!
