"And we'll have fun fun fun, till the EPA takes our V-8 away" Bad, but it works if you sing EPA like Grandpa Simpson in the Simpson's Movie.

The aussies better not get the blown 5.0 before we do.
I know its not production but didn't Shelby already do a GT350 (5.0 blown)??

They haven't hit the street yet. But yes they are going to do a blown 5.0.

Also Motor trend (or any mag) will get certain times to prove a point. Not all out cheating...but slight bias.

For example...

They ran a 12.9 with the camaro when racing it against the GT500 at a 12.8. The camaro was the new best thing then and they wanted to prove that they were right in saying this.

Now in a heads up comparison they run a 13.1 (with the same trap..so conditions are same for performance...only difference this time is launch and or driver) in the camaro and an even better time in the mustang at 12.7. this further backs the new claim they are making as the mustang being the new best thing. It wouldnt have made a very big statement and or backed their claim about the mustang if they would have pulled another 12.9 or better with the camaro.
111.5 is bouncing off of fuel cut-off at 6800 rpm. That means you would be shifting at ~6600-6700 rpm, which is ~108-110 mph.

The camaro is good for 6600 rpm, right? that's up to ~114 mph with it's gearing, plenty room to clear the traps

You are correct they do NOT have to be "identical" as anyone who has ever run their car at a dragstrip more than once can tell you. Also, you can watch the video and see they are testing the cars on an airport runway somewhere with portable timing equipment. They are measuring trap speed when the car hits the traps, but this is NOT how trap speed is calculated at an actual dragstrip. The hair-splitting here is getting pretty extreme. A couple tenths or a couple feet in braking distance is, as garagelogic said, completely insignificant when you factor in different cars being tested by different drivers at different locations under different conditions. These test results are like dyno results, they are useful when doing DIRECT comparisons, but comparison of random results with different variables doesn't have a whole lot of meaning. But a lot of people here seem more likely to concoct some conspiracy theory about Ford somehow bribing the reviewers to sandbag the Camaro whenever the Mustang is in town.

I choose the stronger light saber for making "monster power". Forged internals won out my decision over the 44 cube's in the larger light saber

In my area in nor cal I see alot more 2010 Camaro's vs 2010 Mustang's and 07+GT500's (too many 05-09's to count). I like it that, way ive always gone for then more underground sort of car's. I think the will be more privately owned 2011+ SS vs 2011+ GT especially since the v6 Mustang runs to sixty in 5.1 and the 1/4 in 13.7 seconds and get 30mpg. The GT may become more of a niche car like the Cobra was. But then again I could be wrong.

BUT WAIT! They weren't compared on the same day, so the comparison is irrelevant!

You're in a thread about the '11 Mustang. What were you expecting, exactly? No offense intended to those in the thread who've actaully driven a 2011 Mustang.

They don't give a lot of info, but I wonder if that didn't have the track pack or whatever it is called. So a bit lower gearing. I noticed it only hit .94g as and the price tested was only 32xxx .. so it could be that it didn't have that package ..
