Owner's manual should say. There's a section on scheduled maintenance items.

Yeah you really need to read the manual so you know the proper breakin procedure and maint. schedule.

Royal purple recommends waiting till a new motor has 2000 miles on it before switching. So I'm doing mine at 2000. Usually I change it every 2500. Oil is cheap insurance.

3k miles or 3 months. Unless you travel a lot in reference to the 3 months comment.

I am superstitious and change my new engines around 1,000 miles give or take. Had the Camaro done at 800 yesterday.

I did mine at 420 and I'm going to do it again at 1500 along with the rear end gear oil.

I'm keeping the original oil in my Camaro until the computer indicates that the oil needs to be changed, which is currently estimated, through interpolation, at about over 8,000 miles. Mobil 1 Oil is full synthetic & keeps protecting the engine for longer oil change intervals. I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with over 259,000 miles on it and I always used Mobil 1 Oil in it & changed it at the service manual recommended 7,500 mile interval. And the original engine still runs strong. You can't argue with success.

I did my first oil change at around 1,000 miles. Probably do it once a year from here on out. If I used the oil life monitor I'd probably go 3 years between changes. I used Mobile 1 and did it myself. It's pretty easy to change yourself in these cars.

I would seriously reconsider this plan especially with the first fill engine oil. There are a ton of little metals pieces in that oil. I would also reconsider relying on the computer and look at some of the results that Blackstone labs has produced for various people. A good site to see how oil may or may not hold up is Bob Is the Oil Guy.com

First oil change should be, at the most, half of the regular interval for time or mileage.

I had my first change done at 1,200 and I've had two since. Will be going for my 4th within the next couple of weeks.

I got my first one done at 3,700 miles because I was going on a long road trip and didn't want to have to get it changed during the trip.

Learned my lesson on that on though - I'm over 10k miles now and still have 21% oil life left - owners manual will tell you to wait until the light comes on and then get it done in (either 6-5 days or 5-600 miles - I forget which since I drive 100mi a day to and from work so...for me that's 5-6 days...).

Since you reset your monitor tho...maybe get it done by 5k...then you aren't wasting alot of $$ for nothing. Mine cost me over $100 and I had at least 70% left at 3700...so...
