I was wondering if there was a difference between the suspension of a v6 and v8 2010 camaro.
I have been looking around coil overs, sway bars, trailing arms, ect and most of them dont say if they are for v6 or v8. |

Most of them are for the V8. I know Eibach makes a V6 set. They're sitting two feet away on the floor waiting to get put on Friday
Now, whether or not a V8 set could be used on a V6, I'm not sure. I would think the weight and balance would be difference so the sets for the 6 and 8 would be engineered differently, but really that's a guess.

I also read that v6 guys are putting v8 sway bars in there cars and they are helping and a cheap upgrade. That the v8 sway bars are bigger and stiffer then the V6 ones.

The bars and shocks are different between the V6 and V8, but all the brackets, bushings(?) and end links are the same.
from Super Chevy Magazine: http://www.superchevy.com/features/c...ecs/index.html Two suspension packages are offered: FE2 sport on V-6 models and FE3 performance with the V-8. The front suspension has a dual ball strut system, with a direct-acting stabilizer bar that measures 22.2 x 4 mm on FE2 and 23 x 4.2 mm on FE3. Hollow bars are used for mass savings. The front spring rates for FE2 models are 25 Nm, with wheel travel at 96 mm. FE3 models include a stiffer, 27 Nm spring rate, with wheel travel reduced at 84 mm. Rear suspension features include high lateral stiffness for handling via three lateral ball joints per side. A sub-frame at the rear is double-isolated to minimize vehicle body motions and dampen road imperfections. The FE2 with a manual transmission includes a spring rate of 53 Nm, with wheel travel at 115 mm, and employs a limited-slip differential. The FE3 rear axle uses a limited slip differential on both manual- and automatic-equipped models; and the rear spring rate is increased to 66 Nm and wheel travel is reduced to 100 mm. Coil-over shock absorbers are used in the rear with a decoupled, hollow stabilizer bar. FE2 includes a 21.7 x 3 mm rear bar, while the FE3's large bar measures 23 x 3 mm.

you can uses V8 springs and sways in a V6, some members here have already done it with no issues.
i went with the eibach V6 kit for my LT2, made a world of difference. the only thing i didnt like about the camaro when i bought it was the handling, now i am happy with it. |

Hi strauchpete,
The info that you have read above, is correct to the best of our knowledge. The rates of anti-roll bars and springs are very close to each other, all things considered. Weight of the V8 and V6 models are also very close. Because of this, in reality the performance targets of customers with both V6 and V8 models, are for the most part, the same. Because of this, most companies (like ourselves) are not discrete as to which model our parts are made for. Sure, we like to provide products for the highest performing model, but that is not to say suspension parts engineered using a V8 model for reference, will not work well on your V6. All of our V6 customers have great things to say about our products, as they still have the same performance targets as our V8 customers. Let me know if you have any questions about our parts for V6 or V8 Camaros! Thanks for your time. |

I'm getting the V6 Eibach kit put on in the morning. I'll let you know how it feels after. I went with Eibach because it was the one that was in my price range, and it was the only one I found that was specifically for the six. Eventually I want to step up to full coilovers, but this is an intermediate means to an end for me until I get that kinda money.

We have found there has been little difference between the V6 and V8 suspension. In fact, a stock V6 will out brake and have a .2g higher skid pad rating than the SS.
With that said, Pedders decided it was not necessary making a different set of products for the V6 models. Just be thankful that with equal wheels and tires, and appropriate upgrades, you will be able to get your V6 Camaro to handle with the best of Camaros. mike dms |

I did not see if the ride height was addressed. Is the ride hight any different between the v8 and v6? I have a great deal on new stock ss shocks, both sways, and the springs. I have a 2lt rs and it just sits to high. It might just be me but the ss seems to sit lower. I heard some where that the ss sits 1in lower than the v6, but who knows if thats accurate.

Eiback v8 springs give you just under a 2" drop on a V6. The V6 sits 40mm higher then the V8. On my Lt1/RS I lowered it with Eibach V8 springs and was very happy.

I did the Eibach V6 springs and sway bars (29mm front and rear) The wheel wells are filled perfectly (for my taste) the ride is still comfortable at cruise and yet I can do an off ramp at over 40mph and the car is flat and sure footed.
