Well, I don't care. It simply gives me and my car more exposure on the board! Or maybe WTF just wants to say he has a 10-second daily-driver, too?

All of them and a lot of non-Ford product sites, too.

but that would effect gas mileage, new parts, redesigning a transmission is a lot more cost prohibitive than a rear end swap and would surely be passed on to the consimer. Also, while a rear end swap may not effect EPA, changing all the gears in the transmission surely would I believe.

Stretch a gear here, shrink a gear there, theres tons of possibilites, although you seem like you dont want it to be done, I cant imagine why?

Don't really care if it's done or not, just seems like some people are stretching for things that won't/cant happen for the 11 model year over a few 10ths of a second

Ummm.... Sorry, that is not true at all. As a matter of fact, there were many years the Camaro outsold the Mustang, not taking into account the firebird or anything else. So your fact, umm, not so much a fact. Nice try though.

Many different factors come into play. I would say gearing and weight played the biggest part in the mustang running a 12.7 to the Camaro's 13.1.

Just because two cars trap the same doesn't mean they will run the same. I could show you differences of seconds in the 1/4 with the same trap speed.

The new 5.0 and BMEP

I submit for your reading pleasure a lesson on BMEP (brake mean effective pressure)

http://www.epi-eng.com/piston_engine..._yardstick.htm

In short. For the 5.0 motor in the new mustang to break 450 torque it would have to exceed the BMEP of a formula one engine which is at ~220psi.

As it sits the 5.0 is already at 194 psi bmep which is very astounding and quite an accomplishment for ford. But this is not so good for the outlook of future NA modifications and power output.

BMEP = 150.8 x TORQUE (lb-ft) / DISPLACEMENT (ci)

PLUG IN SOME NUMBERS AND ENJOY

LS3 at 200 psi bmep (stock is 168psi)= 500 torque (Rather accurate here)

5.0 at 200 psi bmep (stock is 194psi)= 400 torque. At 450 torque the BMEP of the 5.0 would be at 224 psi.
