SS Vs. '86 Vette stock

So a guy at work just bought this '86 vette. It's in really good condition for it's 75k miles. I was outside at break when he came out and asked him to show it to me and was complimenting him on it and what not. Then after I go inside the breakroom I find out that after he showed me the car he went in and said he would have no problems blowing my doors off. I was like...WTF??

Your high an 86 Vette will be seeing taillights the whole race. The L98 TPI Vettes are 245 HP and 3200 lbs and ran the 1/4 in mid 14s with a good driver.

Unless its modded for drag racing, you'd blow his doors off.

Here's the stats for an 86 Vette.

Road and Track Feb 86
Performance Engine - 350/230 350ci/255hp
0 to 60 - 5.8 sec
Quarter Mile - 14.4 sec @ 96.0 mph

Hmm, sounds like it might be a close race with a V6 Camaro

I think that Vette guy was just having fun with you. I still have the '85 Vette with about 90K miles on it and I KNOW it can't keep up with my new 2SS. It was a great car back in its days. Ride like a go cart. In the seat, it's as though you are siting on the pavement. Back in 85, there weren't many cars that can do 0-60 in 5.4 to 5.8 secs with low 14's 1/4 mile. I think it will be competitive or slightly ahead of the V6 being so light (~3200#s and 235-245HP, 345TQ).

No, he wasn't toying with me, lol. I've gotten him, a couple of older GTs and an SVO, in the 1/8th.

I've also lost to a 4th Gen and 5th Gen SS, father and son pair. The 4th gen is .5 quicker then the 5th, which gets me by .3. Of course, the 4th isn't stock, the 5th SS is, and I'm not, lol.

These v6 Camaros are no joke sir, lol. While I think that C4 would have drove around me in the 1/4, I would have made him work the whole way, lol!!
