Exhaust for an L99 car
After looking and hearing so many different exhaust options I am still as confused as ever about an exhaust mod for an L99. I need to do something about the stock exhaust and the huge "trash cans". I heard Sam's muffler delete and love it, but his LS3 does not have the problems of mine (AFM) and I rather not have to do any tune. Now that I am putting in GFX, I like the MBRP's exhaust tips a lot. Anyone out there that have an exhaust mod for a L99 that they are happy with and still keep the waranty? It doesn't have to be axle back systems only. I am willing to spend on cat back. If there is a cat or axle back system that is as good or better than the muffler delete option for a L99 (keeping the waranty) please send info. Help!

I went with Zoomers. High quality. Great sound. If there is any drone it's MINIMAL. I have to say it's an overall nice setup.

i have the L99 as well and did the SLP loudmouth 1, which is just the muffler delete. I believe i still have the warranty and i did keep the huge mufflers just in case. I don't have a tune either, and although there is a small drone, it honestly doesn't bother me much. I hated the way the stock mufflers sounded and i definitely like the way mine sounds now. I was also thinking about going with the magnaflow x-pipe to get rid of the resonators but not too sure about that yet. Hey i also put on ground effects, i went with the razzi kit and i totally love it.

Thanks for the info. I had my heart set on the muffler delete after I heard one of guys' LS3 with muffler delete around here. Since then I am hearing all sort of stories about drones with L99 that make me wonder. Does anyone around the Austin area have an exhaust mod for a L99 without a tune. I would like to hear it before commiting to the muffler delete or the MBRP's cat back for GFX cars. To go with the muffler delete I will probably spend the extra $150 for the MBRP rectangular tips to fit the GFX better.

I have the 3" Magnaflow and ARH w/high flow cats on my L99. Also added ADM cold air intake. Bumped up my shift points when tuned it on the dyno. Sounds great and added 50 Ft pounds of torque.

You cannot go wrong with the SOLO MACH XL. The price is right and it sounds low and tight, with NO Drone! Customer support is amazing. See the video for the number. Full Stainless Cat-Back takes less than 1 hour to install and makes a huge difference in throttle response and power.
It is a TRUE X -PIPE RESONATOR AND STRAIGHT MIRRORED PIPES ALL THE WAY BACK to 4.5" double walled tips.....SWEET!! http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...LO+Sound+CLips

I went with the Magnaflow Competition Series Axle Back Exhaust w/5" tips and the Edelbrock 2010 Camaro SS X-Pipe Assembly... LOVE the way it sounds and it hasn't had a tune just yet... waiting for that when I get some headers and gears done =) I'd love to have you hear it, if it would help you out but I'm in SA!

I believe as long as you keep the resonator you will avoid the drone with just the muffler delete.

I have decided to go ahead with the muffler delete once I have the GFX installed. I will not put on the rectangular exhaust tips for a couple of months until I am sure I am going to keep it that way. If I decide to stay with the MD, then I will get the MBRP tips to match the GFX. I will wait for Happy Pappy to go thru with his headers and exhaust install. If he doesn't need a tune, I might follow his lead.

Find a someone who has their LS3 stock exhaust. I replaced mine with one from the headers back and then did the delete. Sounds amazing and not much drone. Free was a nice bonus also.

Atti2de: I have never heard of this option being discussed. Aren't you coming up to Austin for the Twin Peaks meet soon? Love to hear it.
I like your heritage grill. I am getting mine installed within the next 2 weeks. |

Have you tried the muffler delete and the magnaflow 11386 to replace the resonator?
