Theoretically the v6 in the Ford has more potential for power than the v6 in the Camaro.

And the cars should respond nearly the same mod for mod.
The Fords' V6 isnt a DI also. If the DI was to be added down the road you'd see another jump in power. The Camaro already has a DI V6, so it cant, obviously, add DI.

My guess is that if the Ford's V6 was given DI, a low restriction intake and exhaust you would see the V6 top out around 325-330 HP.

So boys..and girls...does Ford still clearly own MT now? Is it obviously biased?

Consider your arguments of "blatant bias" full of holes.

Crazy how intense people get about Fords vs. Chevys. I bought my Camaro because I love the design and I needed a commuter car with good gas mileage. Realistically, both of them are fantastic cars that are reasonably priced. The difference will always be fractions of a second between the Camaro and the Mustang. I'm sure every year the crown will change hands. Really, this pissing war between Ford and Chevrolet will continue develop better cars for the consumer as it has done for years.

On a personal level, the Mustang doesn't appeal to me at all, regardless of price and performance numbers. I think Ford is capable of making a really nice Mustang that doesn't look like nearly every other Mustang made in the past decade.

Not a Chevy Guy, Not a Ford Guy, Just love my Camaro.

Of course, one could say after reading the article that MT's reviews of car are nothing more than another piece of evidence of it being too opinionated.

Quote:
Sure, the Mustang may make the value proposition, but for the extra bit of dough, I'd rather have the Genesis. It's just more fun to drive." That, in a nutshell, was what pushed the Hyundai ahead of the new Ford.
The whole reason why it won the comparison, it MT's eyes, is that it felt better to drive than the other three. Despite it being much of less of a performer than the Mustang V6 (and slightly above the Camaro V6 I might add) and costing more, they decided to give the Genesis coupe the win based on subjective opinions. These subjective opinions were steering feel, the height of the hood, and how close to the ground you felt lol.

So I might want to ask anyone who reads this comparison, how is this NOT unbiased?

Two things wrong with that article. It's a 2011 Mustang against 2010 competitors, and the Genesis 3.8 is actually their SS/GT fighter. Of course it's going to beat the base cars from Ford/Chevy, even if the Mustang is a 2011, and even if it's performance isn't that much, if not any, better then the base domestic cars.

So, in a sense, this is a bit biased, because they tossed Ford a nut by letting the 2011 compete against the 2010s, and tossed Hyundai a nut by letting it's big dog fight against the the puppies. Put the Genesis 2.4 Turbo, or whatever the base motor is, in the ring, and run the 2010 Mustang. The outcome will be different.

When all the 2011 models are out, the comparision will be fair. Of course, I don't expect the Camaro to improve, even with it's horsepower bump , don't run the big dog Genesis and let Dodge unveil it's new v6, if it's going too. Camaro might finish last, but at least the test will be fair.

I haven't read the article, but I can already say a few things I disagree with here. The Camaro changes have been anounced, the only real difference is HUD on the 2LT and 2SS, everything else, as expected, is the same. The same is going to be true about the Gensis as no real changes are expected until 12 at the earliest. Also the gensis V6 is NOT a competitor for the for the SS or GT, it starts at roughly 25k, slightly more expensive than the V6 Camaro and Mustang yes, but they all 3 top out just over 30k fully loaded (2lt RS camaro, Mustang Premium with the performance pack, and the Genesis with the Track Packs). All 3 cars are probably the most comparable 3 cars in the sports coupe arena and they are all good. Hell, choice is good!

Still haven't figured out why they call the V6 Camaro a "RS"... last time I checked RS was an appearance package for this generation.

It doesnt matter if the Camaro is a 2010 or a 2011, the performance will be the same because they havent changed anything. The argument of "its a 2010 vs a 2011" worked until last week, now it is simply pathetic.

A 2011 Mustang vs a 2010 Camaro is a fair comparison because nothing has changed on the 2010 Camaro to 2011.

And if the model of Genesis was different? It would still have had the Mustang on top, and from there down have it be either Mustang-Genesis-Camaro or Camaro-Genesis.

Okay, I'll conced the 2011 vs 2010 due to the fact, as you mentioned, nothing has changed on the Camaro. Fair enough.

The v6 Genesis is the biggest motor, and as such should go against the big motored Mustang/Camaro. The v6 domestics are the base models, the 3.8 Genesis is not.

Again, I don't really care if the Camaro won or lost. The comparision isn't apples to apples. It's really close, but it's not.

Actually..If we're talking comparing V8's to V8's..the Genesis name does come with a V8 engine, in the sedan form. It has a 4.6L V8 with 375 HP.

It isnt fair to throw a V6 Sport Coupe against a trio of V8 sport coupes. If we're talking about top engine levels, it would be more fair to compare the V8 Camaro, Mustang, Challenger (R/T) and Genesis Sedan.

What is fair is comparing the top V6's in the Genesis, Camaro, Challenger and Mustang. In that comparison the Genesis won, Challenger lost, and Mustang/Camaro made up the middle.
