To me it is the same situation here. I would never even bother with the Regal especially when the Grand National was there. It isn't that I have an issue with the DI 3.6 in fact I think it is an awesome engine....but if I was looking for that engine I would be looking at a CTS not a V6 camaro.

People keep saying that the V6 is a terrific bargain and the SS is overpriced for what it is....In my eyes the V6 is a total waste of my $25k while the SS is worth every penny. But as I said above to each his own!

I also think the 1SS is a good bargain, LS3,6060 trans, true duals,14" brakes,20" wheels etc. Good deal for the money. I would have liked a base model V8 car, maybe a 5.3 to choose from with LS trim and upgraded suspension, but the 1SS will do.

This is my last post with this and then I am done. I am 37 years old. I don't race, don't track, don't like the mailslot. But, I don't want the V8. I also don't want civic si, honda coupe, or CTS. Can't I just buy the v6 camaro because that is what I want without being thought of as a chick?. Honestly, I am not even going to use the V6 to its fullest potential, so why would I buy the v8 with the ugly mail slot?

I looked into getting a V6 Camaro first off, but I agree 100% with Mblock66. The fact is Honda Accord V6's, Toyota Camry V6's, Nissan Maxima V6's, and Nissan Sentra V6's, 350Z's hell even Cobalt SS's are all sub 6 second 0-60mph cars now. The V6 Camaro is going to have its hands full fighting these cars off at the stop light. I think the V6 Camaro is still a great bargain performance car, and my opinion of that will never change.

However if you guys think, (and I know most of you won't care) but when you're at stoplight with a Camry V6 and it wants to race you, just don't think it's going to be an "easy kill"... Because it's not going to be.

If I wanted a v8 i would buy the v8!

for gods sake! the v6 camaro haters here act like the v6 is A abomination or scourge of the world.

Be happy the v6 has this good of a engine and not a crappy 200hp engine

Who wants a v6 camry or accord????

This happens every time a new performance oriented car is released -- there are always the young, misinformed or self-proclaimed car enthusiasts (zealots).

To all V6-haters: You are trying to rationalize a very limited point of view. The points you are making are your opinion and valid only in your own, heavily biased view. You equate an Accord with a Camaro--how did you arrive there? That analogy is laughable. Your are speaking in hyperbole because you know that your argument contains nothing substantive.

The bottom line is this: The Camaro V6 is an excellent and balanced, performance car. This argument that because it isn't the SS flavor it isn't a real performance car is nonsense. That is like saying that if you are driving a base model Vette instead of the Z06 Vette, well you might as well drive a Camry. Nonsense.

I really hope the Z28 (500+ HP) comes out in a couple of years -- then all those buyers can make fun of the SS drivers (with their lowl 400+ HP engines) and their pseudo-performance car.

I'm hardly a "V6 Hater" because I'm actually considering a 2LT Camaro w RS... but my answer to your question is when a V6 Accord is beating you off the line, then you'll understand how I arrived there....

My mom.

Seriously though, her v6 accord is kinda fun to drive and the fun I had driving that is actually one of the things that is making me want to ditch the pickup for a Camaro.

How many times do we have to tell you? I don't plan on racing accords.
We don't all care about 0-60 times.

Do they make the V6 in manual? I just figured since it was only a V6 -- why would Chevy bother? I am sure when they have the "Build Your Camaro" feature on the Chevy website, if you want a manual V6 transmission, you will be redirected to the Honda or Toyota website.

Or maybe there will be a redirect to this thread or a link to Chevy's internal engineer's web site with them flipping you off and mooning you.

Ok, here is my opinion. Chevy should make lots and lots of V6s. I believe that there will be more V6s sold then V8s. This is a good thing for GM and the Camaro fan. The Camaro will have enough volume for GM to keep refining all of the Camaro models and the V6 will help with the CAFE requirements. The V6 engine they chose is great. I bet there will be some V6s that will have been worked over a bit that could surprise a V8 or two. Because of of the V6, GM will have the ability to make some great V8 models. Of course, the Camaro I will be getting is the V8.

It seems like a majority of the "KIDS" here want the SS so they can race whoever challenges them at the light. Well if beating an Accord will make you happy, I guess 7k more is worth that smile for a week or two. Bottom line is you shouldn't be racing anyone and when the time comes when you are and lose control and eat a pole,, then everyone can drive by and say, wow, what a shame, a Camaro SS destroyed. What a dumbass!!!

I want the V8 because I like V8s. Esp. Chevy small blocks. I am not so insecure in my manhood as to get a woody from being a punk streetracer.

BTW: I'm a 47YO kid.

...and I'd like to see Tag fill his ticket book "Tag-ing" streetracers.
