Very James Bond like....1960's version. Cool idea but I wouldn't do it either. I'm in a front licence plate state (NJ). I plan on getting a personalized plate when I get my new camaro.

man i wanted this so bad...i was all ready to order it too...and then i seen it on a camaro...to me there is no point in a hideaway lincense plate holder when u see the dam holder! its ok for the time being i guess but ive heard they are working on something for the camaro...i got a holder thats held in place by the screws already under the car holding the front fascia to the bottom of the car and it comes out from the bottom...no holes and it looks good...i still want the hideaway when they get it right but this will hold me over...maybe ground effects will fix the problem with the hideaway

It looks like it's stuck to it but it's riveted on with four huge rivets that are put thru 4 holes drilled in the bumper.

This motorized plate seems like it might work better in the center of the car. Wouldn't the point in the middle provide the clearance naturally that you're achieving by having it stick out an inch? And almost anything would be less noticeable if it wasn't asymmetrical as well. I'd like to see someone try that.

I live in Maryland, commute to & from work in Northern Virginia each day. In the six months that I have had my Camaro (1SS 6Speed Black/Black) I have been pulled over 9 times for "Not having a front license plate". 6 Times by MD State Troopers, 2 times by Local Cops. Each time the officer knew almost as much about my car as I do, each was very interested in looking over my car, Each gave me a "warning". One even commented on how it should be against the law to bolt a tag on the front end of my car. All were Camaro fanboys for sure. For those of you keeping up with the math, I was pulled over 9 Times. 8 Times the police were very cool about it. The 9th time was yesterday. MD State Trooper, he was very quick with the ticket book, gave me a 100$ fine with a requirement to get the tag mounted in 15 days. I just figured that I caught him on a bad day until as he was giving me my license and registration back, he said "2011 Mustangs are going to give this a good run" and flashed a big grin.

At any rate, that's what I am here for now, trying to find the best of the worst case solutions, mounting that bracket on my beautiful car.

I like the hideaway options. I figure I can not see it while I am driving, and it can be hidden away when I can see the front of my car.

Thanks for the tutorial. Good stuff.
