I recently saw a video on youtube, of the new 2011 5.0 liter mustang beating a 2010 Camaro 6.2 liter SS, in the quarter mile. Is this true?

They are no joke. I feel they should be right there with the stick. If you look at their trap speed I would say its a drivers race. Ford did a great job with the powertrain and the power to weight ratio is great for a car in its class.

well, you can't win em all.. The mustang is only "a little" better in terms of performance , but its still a mustang...

Power-to-weight, the Mustang wins. I really don't believe what i've been hearing about what the Mustang puts down on a dyno, but I am sure it will beat the 2011 Camaro without a problem at the track. Ford always reacts quicker. Chevy can get more power out of the 6.2 (but not much), but they really need to figure out how to take some weight out of it and still keep the price in check. I could swap out some parts and knock an honest 100lbs out of it EASILY. Get some lighter seats, and some lighter wheels. Tell the engineers to design a 2011 wheel that is 20" and weighs no more than 25lbs. Offer a track car or a drag-pack car with better gearing, manual windows/locks and way-less sound deadening, possibly a/c delete as well. Similar to the older 1LE cars.

There's a lot of stuff they can do, but GM is typically slow to respond.

That's more driver error than anything. I've seen guys in Cobra's go 13.5

I believe it has to do with caliper clearance issues with the wheels used on the Caifornia Special.

The base GT brakes stops the Mustang quicker than the SS with the brembos Also they are pretty resistant to fade themselves. Honestly the base brakes will work for 99.9% of the GTs thatare gonne be on the road.

The 5.0 is getting 12.6 in the quarter. How could you ever not respect a new v8 5 liter at exactly $30k. Its a damn bang for the buck.

So its more expensive then the 2SS when given the same options. Mine would be 36775 and thats everything my car has but no sunroof. My with the same options and a sunroof was 36725. So what gives here. Nice car back putting everything you want on it turns it into a 40000 car real quick and a Mustang thats not a GT500 should never be that much.

Lets hate some more guys. 12.6 is no joke. If you want to feel the wind in your hair get vert.

This car is a lot of bang for the buck, as men you guys should at least be able to admit that. Hopefully Chevy will come through with a better answer than Synergy Green.
