So I guess I am not alone in this..... One day I drove 4 hours to the nearest dealer just to see ti in person. They are so beautifull. The guy saw me drive up in my truck "Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4" He judged me immediatly and I asked if I had the money to buy an Aston. I told him " And to think I was going to leave with a DB9 today. I told him I had a check in my wallet and was just going to buy it outright, but now I will take my business elsewhere. You have never seen more salse manager dept heads ect trying to calm me down...lol cheap entertainment |

Well if you're going to take the Camaro to "very high performance levels", you're probably going to void the warranty so you might as well take that off the table. If you have some real money to play with I'd say go Viper.

I am talking about a 96-02 GTS which is the Gen 2 bodystyle or "old" bodystyle at 450hp. You can get a modded gen 2 for about 35-50k depending on miles and color that is well modded. The 500hp viper is a better car but considered less desirable by enthusiasts in general from a "wow factor" perspective.

If you are going to be driving it every day, go with the Camaro. Vipers are known to be little more than street legal race cars, fun to go fast in, awful to live with.

Yeah. If you are looking for a second vehicle, or a "toy" then def go with a Viper GTS....
If it's going to be a daily driver then the Camaro will fit the bill better...

I personally didn't like driving the Viper. . . I had a chance to take it around the Beaver Run track several times during one of the SRT track days I went to.
I thought the Viper Ram truck was way more fun than the Viper itself. Then agian this could be because I'm not use to the car.

Sure it does. When you are dealing with spending 30+ k on a sports car, you can look at other options. If you MUST have back seats and a more "daily driver" I guess it doesn't make sense. Mustang and camaro enthusiasts have ALWAYS stacked their cars to vettes and other "sports car/super cars" and it makes more sense then ever because of the economy right now and the amount of people trying to free up assets and obtain more fuel efficient cars.
Anyways, thanks for all the responses. I am going to let things play out a bit and make an informed decision but this site is great. I have read through a lot here and learned a bunch of useful info on this car already. |

If GM does by Chrysler and extinguishes production of new Vipers, you're going to see appreciation, not depreciation.
