It has been a while since I had a manual - had an older BMW with an M3 clutch - it was a tough clutch. The camaro 2ss clutch is tough as well, it begs you to get on it in first and second in my opinion.

I must admit in gets old quick in NYC traffic, moving under 5 mph for 30+ min is not fun. But for the most part I don't think I would change it for an auto.

My wife doesn't know how to drive it. I tried to teach her on the BMW yrs ago but she got frustrated. I think it is tougher to learn when you are older (30s versus teens) and many people get intimidated. I will try and teach her this summer on the Camaro but I am not sure how it will go. Driving in a city like NY is tougher then rural roads.

Yup Im a woman and when I was 12 my mom took me out and would regularly let me drive the stick in traffic, illegal I know but those were different times also. Me and my family all drive stick. In fact our family owns all stick shift cars. thats just the way I grew up....in fact I ended up trying to teach my boyfriend in highschool how to drive stick...um ya... but I agree weither its a lady or a man, its usually the fact that they were raised around people who just drove autos and people today like the comfort and ease more. I think people feel its just to much to concetrate on when driving and I understand that, but for me its as easy as blinking an eye. I truly think people who dont drive stick are really missing out on having the ultimate control and a simplicity in their car.

allthough my first camaro had an auto , the PO put a shift kit in it and in that old car everytime it would downshift it would jerk you back into your seat and just about knock the wind out of you and I loved it. Instead I needed my left foot to brace myself around corners which was nice. At stop lights it would rumble and growl moving the whole car to the stroke of the engine. It was not a cushy ride it was very rough , loud and mean and I loved it, thats what a camaro is to me.

I know how to drive manuals just fine but I ordered my C6 with the A6. I've always thought of manuals as being needed to get more power from the car and with 430 HP, I am happy without needing more. I also was quite impressed with the GM tapshift setup although I haven't used it much.

When I buy a Camaro, I'll get the M6. It just seems more correct but I'm not sure why.

You taught your daughters to drive a manual good for you. My dad taught me too, it was a great father/daughter bonding experience.
I'm not sure about stick vs non-stick research. But I have routinely seen research that indicates that men, despite being more aggressive, are actually better drivers. The catch, however, is that with their aggression comes more serious accidents as opposed to the more frequent 'fender benders' that women seem to have.

I heard it said best a few years ago where an a someone was asked who was a worse driver between a guy and a girl. He said "He's wreckless, but she's careless. And careless is much worse."

The theory being that to drive wreckless, you must be aware of what's out there, you're just taking a more aggressive stance on the road; whereas careless drivers do what they do because they simply aren't paying attention to their surroundings.

A careless driver will run someone off the road and not even know it. A wreckless one will run the person off the road because they cut him off and it's "better them than me."

I disagree. You give me that 400 and the A6....and I'll make you hurl moreso than a ride at Six Flags.

It ain't the car, it's the driver.

Considering how long you've been going on about it, it's clear that it bothered you.

Are men better at driving stick? You would say yes if you saw my wife drive.

She won't drive a stick. She can barely handle an auto.

Maybe its the whole "muscle" aspect of macho bs syndrom. I do find it humorous though that people with syndrom stay away from "strong" women. My girl is smart, beautiful and strong. She could kick the sh*t out of most of the guys she comes across. And I like that

My wife is welcome to drive mine, but she said she has her toys, and I have mine.... she leaves it parked in the Garage and is way happy riding around with me driving it...she does say that she doesn't see well enough out of it to drive it comfortably...

No need to be psychic. It's simply a casual observation. But yes, if you insist that such an observation is wrong, then you should adjust your behavior. Apparently I wasn't the only one that saw your repeated addressing of the same (off) topic as your being upset by said topic.
