Few questions about oil stuff.

Hey guys I'm a city boy and have never changed my own oil, so dont get to hard on me for not knowing this stuff. Ive gone through the threads and found the oil I want is Mobil 1, (jumps on bandwagon) and I also know I need a new filter. I'm not the kind of guy who buys ANYTHING at retail price in stores. I get my stuff online but I need advice from anyone who knows oil and filters. Ive found mobile 1 5w30 quarts for around 7.00 dollars,is this price good or would I be better of going to sears or home depot. And Ive found this oil filter

http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-PF2129...1607524&sr=1-1

I just want someone to check if this is a good filter I dont want to be cheap over a couple bucks and harm my engine. Its just this filter I think is what gm recommends.

Thanks Helpful People!

You have the right Filter # PF-2129 which is a Cartridge filter but the picture shown on Amazon is not the right Filter , they show it to be a canister type Filter which is wrong ...

***Amazon Filter# is right but the picture of the Filter is wrong .***

I went down to my local Advanced Auto Parts store and picked up 6-qts of Mobil One 5w-30 and a Mobil One cartridge # M1C-254 Filter all for $33.62 (tax included ) !

The Manager at the store told me that he will always honor this price as long as he is at this store location and he will also honor all military discounts that Advance Auto Parts offer even with Advertised Specials ( not all stores will do that and offer a Discount and combined them with other Special Discount Offers)...

Your local Wal-Mart has the best price on Mobil 1. Get the five quart jugs.

Yep, 5-qts of Mobil 1 synthetic are $23.50 at WalMart, which is $4.70/qt. Its gone up, last year it ran about $21.00.

I'm the kind of guy who buys retail anytime it saves me money...

I agree with you 100% but I don't have to go to WalMart to get a "GREAT DEAL" !

When you break down the price for the M1 at Advance Auto Parts I pay $4.42 a qt. for Mobil 1 synthetic and the Mobil 1 Cartridge Filter $4.89 the regular price for this type of M1 Oil filter is $19.99 ea. ...
I got this deal during their M1 Oil Change Advertise Sale: 5 qts of M1 with a free Oil Filter (M1 Cartridge filters are excluded from this sale).. The Manager and I worked out this deal for when ever they have this M1 Oil Change w/ free oil Filter Specials , the reason I was charged for the M1 Filter was because they are excluded from this type special so the Manager over ride the sale and used my Military Discount on top of that .. He then said as I were leaving that if I ever needed oil when there are no M1 specials going on at that time he will honor that price any way...

So if I were to get the Oil from WalMart at $23.50 (5qts) + add around $6.50 or so for a qt to make 6qts for the oil change and then get a M1 filter if they still carried them which they don't but lets say they did then add $19.99 or even $18.00( because it's WalMart) that will = around $50.00 give or take a dollar or two (maybe)then the Tax on top of that , well then I'll stick with Advance Auto Parts plus I get a better Oil Filter for less out of them !!

If you have an SS you will need 9 quarts as it will take a little over 8 to fill the pan.
