Good question. I'm interested.

First you make a bold statement now your asking questions about the software.

Which verifies my interpretation of your post.

Yes we tune with full screen on a Laptop, with both SCT and Diablo, we also Datalog on a full Screen just like HP and EFIlive.

They are all just a doorway competing for the same space.

Wrong person...

However, HP Tuners and EFI Live ultimately give the most access. How much of that access is needed... well, that's up for debate.

2 bar? VVT? SD conversion? OS reflash? Torque management? VATS? Just a few thoughts off the top of my head that I was completely unaware that handhelds could perform. Maybe I am dead wrong though and if I am I sure am sorry but I've seen many a 9 second car and many tuners and not one who went really fast would even consider a Diablo or Predator handheld even worth having. I suppose what you say about doorwway in makes perfect sense I was always under the impression that these devices were more for tuning gearing changes and some a/f trims and whatnot. Not for full on tuning.

However I am the first to admit I have only seen a predator once and it was a few years ago so maybe things have improved.

Curious though why do most professional tuners not use these devices if they are as good as tuning suites like the ones I mentioned?

There are always going to be items that one can do that the other does not.

That does not mean the company in question does not have the ability just that they may not feel that they're customer base needs it.

The hand helds are great for the Average guy who is not a tuner and needs a tune and a Professional tuner Remote support.

Perfect example of what I am talking about.

Of course you must have the Dealer software to do everything HP, EFI live does because that really is what they are meant for, the Professional or Hobby tuner, not every guy that wants to do light mods to his or her car.

I have all 4 software and I am fine with any of them.

Ted.

I have an L99 btw, not that it would really make a difference.
Please note this guy was asking for the "best" tuner hence why I posted. His L99 is VVT and therefore could seriously benefit from a tuning suite that can tune these tables. Im not trying to pee on anything Im only trying to help answer the guys question. Cleary the "best" tuner for this guy is not a handheld.

Easiest? maybe.... but tuning is tuning why limit yourself

For those few less features and less hassle, I think I'm just going with the SCT.

Alec - SCT for the L99 with a custom tune from Ted. You won't be disappointed. See my post in the vendor section.
