If GM merges (read "buys") Chrysler, it will most likely carve it up like the turkey that it is and keep the profitable Jeep division. The way GM comes out ahead is to shave off the loosing/duplicate divisions which unfortunately also means cutting loose most of the Chrysler employees. This last piece is the linchpin to the deal because negotiations about "the employee package" with the unions would be difficult at best.

The next time you see GM under $5, buy every share you can afford. You will be very happy in 2 years. You could have made a 55% profit two weeks ago.

(shaking head)

"lied to"??

"GM won't screw us" - exactly where/how did GM "screw" anyone?

"pleased with price" - correct me if I'm wrong, but just on this board alone, there seem to be quite a few people, who have placed orders, and aren't complaining about pricing.

And for the record, Scott HAS NEVER misled anyone.

Everyone wants a kicka@@ Camaro, but there are some who want it loaded with all the "goodies", and they want it priced based on what they feel is reasonable.

The reality is, with what GM/Chevrolet have to go through in building a car these days, ie: CAFE, safety standards, etc., the price for what a customer may feel is fair isn't based in reality.

Taking a comment I've heard from Scott, "You can't please everyone." With no disrespect intended, if you feel you're "being screwed", and the Camaro is "over-priced", maybe you should look elsewhere?

Okay let me get this right, you started a brand new thread to bitch about other people's bitching? Does the word irony mean anything to you?

Newsflash, that's part of what message boards are here for, are we supposed to come here everyday and have a Camaro love fest circle jerk? I don't think so.

No one was lied to. I for one am thrilled with the pricing (and I think the 84% of people who ordered an SS will agree with me). Being told to keep the faith in GM not "screwing" you is not a statement of fact and therefore cannot be a lie. It's a belief in GM. Being told you would be pleased with the price is also a belief GM held and probably still holds. The only statement you have referred to that cold be construed as a lie is that it would be priced competitively with the premium Mustang GT.

However, I feel that statement was not a lie. Comparing the two vehicles next to each other, they are on very similar ground pricewise with the Camaro being slightly more expensive. GM has given us a car with far more features standard and a whole ton more power. Additionally, they have given us a modern suspension package. You have to pay for advances in technology and equipment. There is a Camaro priced for everyone. It may not have a V8, but as long as you have a decent (read more than a high school part time job), and your finances are well looked after, you can afford a car in the Camaro range. If you cannot manage your money properly, have too much debt, too much house, too many children, ect, then you might not be able to afford a Camaro....but that's not due to the pricing strategy of GM.

There is a solution to that problem though....buy used in a year when the original owner has already taken the depreciation hit. If you cannot manage to afford a 23k new car, you obviously have more going on in your life which should take precedent over a new car anyway. A new car isn't for everyone, and that's perfecty fine. No one was lied to. Your belief in what the price should be vs. what the actual price has turned out to be is not a lie.

Thank you, I don't think every thread should be pulled into the crapper with incessant bitching, but the fact is the more GM listens to our concerns the more cars they can sell. The Blue/SS thread is a good example of change that may come due to our feedback/complaining.

I can't speak for 'fanknbeans', but I think his point in creating this thread is to remind people that, while there are always going to be those who find fault with some things regarding the new Camaro, we should be thankful GM/Chevrolet is bringing back the Camaro.

You are correct in that one of the purposes of message boards is to express opinions. And they should be expressed with respect.

And no, we're not here for a "love fest ..........", differences of opinions, thoughts, etc., are all welcome. As I stated, I think the thread was started just as a way of suggesting to those with complaints to maybe consider the alternative....no Camaro.

If GM hadn't brought back the Camaro, I would not be buying a car. I don't need another car, but I WANT the Camaro just to play with, so GM gets ~$36,000 from me. No complaints here!

Sorry Moose but I've never seen anyone ever express themselves that way and found it hillarious!
