It's fine for you... you live IN GA. How long was your commute? An hour or two?

How about those of us that don't?

I didn't go because it would have cost me over $1000.00 in GAS and tolls to get there and back... not to mention 5 days of travel time.

I would like to see an east coast event and a west coast event.

For the east, how about VA motorsports park? B/C it's centrally located..

actually our GA/FL Corvette Caravan did Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2003 and Road Atlanta in 2009 and you could buy "hot laps" for both. I'm not sure how the insurance works but obviously you will sign a release and I guarantee your personal auto coverage will not cover any damage/injury.

That's pretty much what I said

Here's a thought : Having the 2nd C5 Fest more central between the
US and Canada so that more Canadians can join in on the fun!
Believe me most of us really wanted to participate. But, driving 3 days or more there, and back is crazy! Here's another thought for the road, how about during the summer!

There are more people within a days drive to Lexington, KY then any other city. I suggest having it somewhere centrally located to the POPULATION DENSITY not the GEOGRAPHY of the country. Sure, it screws the people on the west coast but so what, they live on the west coast... They have 70 degrees and sunny year round!

I think you would see more people attend if it were around KY or TN... problem is where? SGMP was awesome and i'd have no problems going back there and I'd make it a longer trip. Maybe spend a few days in Savannah.
There is a road course (Bluegrass), a circle track (KY Speedway) and a NHRA drag strip (Edgewater) all in the area near Cincinnati, but they are separated by a few miles and not all in one race park. The circle track and road course are only a couple of miles, but the drag strip is about 45 minutes away.

I wasn't able to come this year, so it doesn't matter to me where it is held next time, I plan to attend. Good luck to whoever has to figure out when/where to hold the event. Putting things like this together are a tremendous effort and I applaud those who (I am told) did a great job!

I hope you all realize you will NEVER please EVERYONE. Its always going to be too far for someone. I am likely in regardless of the location. Unless its on the West Coast. I draw the line there.

Kansas seems the smartest... Very few people from Kansas but NYC is 1300 miles, Corpus Christi is 900 miles and LAX is 1600 miles... Seems fairly central.

SGMP for me was 695 miles compared to 710 miles to Topeka, so I don't care... Central seems like it may be a good idea. But Vegas is 2000 miles... not gonna do that!

(Disclaimer: Apex Motorsports plans to sponsor and attend 2011 C5Fest regardless of venue. We are eager to see the ball start rolling!)

I agree that you will never please everyone, but the only thing Kansas would accomplish is it would be inconvenient for everyone. Population density in the middle of the country is super low and causes practically everyone to have to travel a very long way. I don't see many west coasters crossing the Rockies or many east coasters traveling much past the Mississippi River. Not to mention, how many locations in that part of the country have the infrastructure to suddenly support a few thousand extra people.

If your looking for maximum participation at one location then the eastern US seems like the obvious choice. The majority of the hard work would already be taken care of if C5Fest just returned to the same location, or you could choose a more central location in the eastern US like Kentucky or Tennessee. Anywhere in the Nashville, Louisville, Cinncinnatti region places you within about 600 miles of 60% of the US population. Other than that, there isn't very much that makes sense when you take personal preference out of the equation.

I think that it should be more central located other wise we can loose alot of our west coast members because they would never do a cross country drive. Find a couple good spots and different locations and do a vote, I know I am close to Kansas City and they have a KCIR drag racing track and there is a national corvette gathering there.
