I bought the non-RS because I like the Halogen housing better than the Halos. I did want HID as well so I just bought a kit from AAC (or BfXenon) and had HID for $270. I love HID as well....but the Halogens put off alot of light...just not as intense.
Here is a DYI on how easy they are to install plus pics of before and after: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...hlight=install

Can you just buy the HID housing from the dealer and install them and save yourself the 1200?? That is if you don't care about the colored weather stripping...

This is the first car I've had hid and they are just unreal compared to your typical halogens they are the main selling point for the RS I'd say. The roof ditch moulding painted is a big plus as well. For price of RS it's well worth getting considering you get the wheels and spoiler as well. As for the darked brake lens I can't even tell if its darker.

What's so special?
I questioned that when I saw that there are more RS's than non-RS's. I like the standard headlights. I like the black roof molding with my sunroof. I like the non-spoiler look. I like the bright rims that I chose for that option. I like not having badges. I like the look of the flat roof on my sunroof. I like, I like, I like...
One thing that I'm realizing more and more, is that Chevy is brilliant. They give us all of these options so we choose the car that we love. The only problem is we get on this forum and argue about this stuff. RS vs. non-RS, V6 vs. V8, sunroof vs. no sunroof, etc. Figure out what you love, and rock it.

Actually it'll cost you more. $1300 for the HID/Halos plus you need an adapter for like lights because the wiring is different and the RS cars use the Fogs as DRLs instead of the headlights.

Have I got this right: Non-RS on a 1SS means black roof body moldings? I can't remember seeing a 1SS with anything but body color matching roof body moldings.

I also felt I would regret not getting it - the main selling point to me being the HID/halo headlights. The 20" wheels, colored roof molding, and the spoiler are a great bonus.
But alas, it is a $1,500-$1,800 package, so...

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Right now I am just at the fantasizing stage. Of the available colors they have right now, I like RJT/black hockey stripe and stick/black interior, silver/grey HS and S/black and grey interior and black/orange rally stripes/black and orange interior options the best.
