Now then, he's pulled you over for the dashes. Great. If that's not a crime in your state and if you have your other T's crossed and I's dotted, he's got nothing on you. If you have registration, insurance, etc up to date and nothing else illegal going on, you just lost a few minutes on the side of the road. No harm no foul. Here's where it gets interesting: If he decides to write you up for speeding anyway, grand. Let's see it hold up in court. With no documented speed reading from the gun, he's got no hard evidence. That makes it much easier to fight. If you have to/choose to push it to a jury trial, what evidence can he present? It "looked" like you were speeding? How can we gauge his ability to determine that in a way that 12 people too dumb to think of an excuse to get out of jury duty can understand? Case dismissed/acquitted. Is any of that a guarantee? In these times, no. Chances are a bored (or annoyed) cop will find *something* to write you up for. However, every little thing that gives you an edge is useful. The main edge, of course, is to not drive like a jack-hole. Give him no reason to single you out of a crowd and you don't have any greater chance being pulled over than anyone else on the road. |

Installation Pics?
Guys, do you have any pictures of where you have installed this? I'm interested in how it looks once you get the dashboard components mounted. Thanks.

Commits weekly crime
|
I was looking into the 9500ci, and the company that I was going to go through to install sent me the following pictures. Last two pictures are of the jammer on the rear plate (top part of plate).

same.. thing has saved me multiple times, even if im only going a little over the speed limit i'm not always nervously looking around for a cop, its a nice comfort feature as well, i realize its not perfect so you have to still try and find the spots where the cops sit but its worth the money a few times over. I love how you can download updates with new speedtraps as well.

.... ok.... thinking about this... how in the world would a laser jammer work? They hit you with a laser to judge your speed, right? How can you throw that off, outside of using mirrors, or a thick water mist or something?
Anyway, if the cop wants to bust you, he will bust you. All he has to do is WAIT to turn on that radar gun until it's too late for you to do anything but say 'oh $#!t!!'

Google laser shifters .(We’re talking about a device that reacts to a police laser beam by sending out its own laser beam, shifting the spectrum of the returning light, rendering it unrecognizable to the laser gun’s optical sensors.)

Laser jammers are legal and completely legit (at least the model made by Escort is)...... RADAR jammers are illegal as hell and your speeding ticket would be the LEAST of your problems should you ever attempt to use one.
Laser and radar both use the doppler effect to translate your vehicle speed but with completely different tools. Laser uses light. The policeman's laser gun shoots a stream of light at a specific, constant frequency that will bounce off of the car they aim it at and reflect back to the laser gun at a different frequency. The laser gun's computer calculates that difference and translates it into your speed. The frequecy that the gun shoots out is always exactly the same, while the frequency that reflects off your car changes based on how fast or slow you are moving. It is pinpoint accurate to about 1500 feet. They can pick off your car like a snipper. When your laser detector goes off, if you're over the limit, might as well pull over before he even puts his patrol car into drive. RADAR uses radio frequency to do the same thing. But the difference is that radio frequencies bounce off and reflect off other cars, and is always "broadcasting", which is why some of the best detectors can pick up RADAR a mile or two away. It will also show all the speeds of all the cars passing by, and the policeman has to pick out the speeder and lock the speed in (isn't hard to do, just as reliable as a laser) Light is a natural occurance. It is not legislated, and cannot be (just like the sun). So, any laser shifter can be used. What it will do is catch the laser shot the instant the policeman fires it at your car and distort the beam so the return frequency is not readable by the gun. The policeman cannot do anything about it. RADAR is radio frequency. It is man made. It is legislated..... by the Federal Communications Commission..... you CANNOT screw with RADAR..... if you do you will have federal charges brought up against you . You fudge with a cop's radar gun he will know. And he CAN do something about it. |

Heres the way it works in the real world....
The cop hits the car ahead of you at 5 over the limit and sees that you are gaining on him....he hits you and his laser jams. Hmm...mechanical failure..or???? So it works properly on the car behind you too after you pass. Hmm...lets pull this guy over and check him out. So he pulls you over with your jammer and recognizes your equipment (they do get trained in looking for this stuff). Now comes the violation for having a jammer if your state bans it. If not...you will get the ticket for 5 over being that you were catching up to the car ahead of you that WAS doing 5 over. In our courts the judge would even allow the officer to estimate your speed under the aforementioned circumstances and kick it up to whatever his "expertise" felt was proper. There is no substitute for driving with your eyes wide open both ahead of and behind you. When its dark you are stuck to doing the speed limit or leaving yourself open to a violation. And don't forget to look in your rearview mirror every time you pass a freeway entrance ramp too....the "ramp roosters" will laser your speed to a car ahead waiting for you on the side of the road. And they don't glow in the dark either....
