The Oshawa plant is one of the largest auto plants in the world. It is actually 3 car plants in one. It has received more awards than any other plant in the world and I can tell you after dealing with many managers there that they take car building very, very seriously.

You have to take a look at the plants history and relevance to GM over the past 100 years and you'll have a better understanding about the plants obsession with quality and it's reluctance to do anything which may impact its day to day operations.

More reason for a tour! A company always makes acceptions for its customer base.. If we get enough people I bet we can get somewhere...

I asked FbodFather about this when i met him at the OC auto show last year. He relayed a story about some jackass that (after being told not to touch anything) leaned on a row of corvette hoods during a tour of the plant. he eneded up knocking over a row of hoods causing the assembly line to close down for several hours.

There were more details in the sotry but thats the long and short of it, so you can see offering a plant tour is a huge liability for GM.

F-Bod if you read this please post up the whole story as I have probably left out most of the details here.

There are already people working on trying to get a tour going in there. It will take some time. Starting a petition will just derail everything. Hang in there.
