i appreciate you enthusiasm. while you will kill some gt500's, they have a stock short block limit of 700rwhp. that is achieved by changing blowers, heads, and tune. they do weigh more than you. but terminators have no such limit. their short block is 1000crank hp ready the day it left the factory. and they weigh less than you. a termi is a few bolt-ons and a screw away from 700-800rwhp. or just a turbo swap away. the termi will split its iron block if raced all the time at that level, but they can be powered higher. defeating pig heavy gt500's with their puny 700rwhp limit is one thing. a termi with screw swap is a whole other animal. IMO. the Z06 is a perfect combination of low weight, aerodynamics, and power. no arguing its badass. a Z weighs 600lbs less than you.

That 700rwhp limit on stock 5.4 shortblocks must not be set in stone.
My friend has a 2009 GT500 that has a kenne bell blower, injectors, throttle bodies, exhaust, cai, and tune and puts down 826rwhp with nothing touched inside the motor. I do think he is taking his chances with the stock rods though. |

a bolt-on 815rwhp is just average for a gt500. it depends on how high it is revved. the rods are similar to the 5.0 rods. they are stronger, but the same metalurgy.

400+rwhp and climbing!

I know the terminators can be very fast, they also get very fragile when they reach the power levels they are capeable of. My brother had a sonic blue terminator with the comon bolt ons and it ran neck and neck with my 99 FRC corvette with almost the same mods, but it broke more of would sling belts. He sold the terminator and now has my FRC. I never intended for my camaro to be an all out drag car I just enjoy the thought of it being to hold it's own aginst 90% of the cars that would atempt to chalenge it. The smug remark I made in an other post was just from my observations, I was in trafic last weekend (Grand Rod Run) and pulled up next to a guy in a GT 500 I gave the guy a nod and told him he had a sharp car, his reply was to look over and give me one of those "you talkin to me looks" turn his nose up and look strait ahead like he was insulted to be talked to buy a guy in a lowly camaro. The terminators are good cars and so are the GT500's but they are not invinceable like there owners think. I will always pull for camaro's because that's what I like and I will always try to out run mustangs because again thats what I like. I thought this was a camaro forum but there are sure a lot of mustangfans here to remind everyone that no matter what you do to your camaro the Mustangs can do it better . This is my thought for the day I love my camaro, I love working on, and you can be assured it is fast and will be faster. If I run across a faster mustang I will just work a little harder and come back a little faster next time. As for you guys with the super fast track mustangs good for you you might be able to get one on my 10 but like a lot of others on here my 10 SS is not the only rocket in the hanger!

The DOHC Blown 4.6 in the 03-o4 Cobras was by far the strongest motor put out by the big 3 in the last couple of decades.

Did you read the whole post? I said that even with every bolt on (cam's don't count) the 4.6 is still going to be quite a few hp short of the 5.0. With that said, stock 3v 4.6l dyno around 270 stock (for 05-09), so 270 to 330 (more of an average gains) is 60 whp. The 5.0 will not gain 60 whp from bolt ons. I think it will respond to boost once you get new pistons/rods, but it won't get much from your simple bolt ons like the 4.6l does. Hence, why it won't be as mod friendly. |

Strongest does not always = fastest. The 4.6 DOHC that was blown in the 03-04 Cobras was indeed the strongest, just not the most powerful pre-blower. |
