Paint Correction Question
So the hostess at the restaurant where I work came to me with a request for me to repair a spot on her BMW.
From what she told me, while her car was in the parking lot at school, somebody dumped gravy on the paint (probably from Whataburger knowing these Texans). Anyway, of course she let it bake on there for who knows how long and then was surprised when it didn't wash off Her mom then told her to scrub it with Cascade, so theres some pretty nasty scratches all over the place, but that's not the issue right now. It's left like this hazy weird stain down the side, so my question is do you think some SHR with hand polishing would even touch this? I don't want to waste mine or her time if it's gonna need machine polishing because I don't have my PC yet. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The paint on the whole car is a mess, but all she cares about is removing the spot. Here is a pic:

No hand polishing will not get that out, well it will but will probably take like 3 months of non stop polishing.
You will definatly need to machine polish and by the looks you might need something a tad stronger like Mequires 105 and 205 Question for you, is the clear coat cracked, cannot tell. Also keep her mother away from any vehicle, that is just dumb using cascade. |

It looks like the paint is damaged not just stained. I have seen milk do this to a hood. I would take it to a body shop and ask if it could be wet sanded with some 2000 or finer grit paper and then buffed.

The clearcoat itself was actually cracked turns out. The girl whose car it was is in high school and her parents decided not to pay to have it fixed.

I have wet sanded a spot like before with 2500 grit and it seemed to work pretty well.. it was a small spot on the front fender and it turned out okay. Looked like some kind of bird poop that splattered across it. It took awhile but I was too scared to go any rougher with the sanding.
Yeah it's a good thing you didn't try to hand polish that. If you are detailing for other people, do yourself a favor and get a PC RIGHT NOW! haha, you will be amazed at what the PC can do with the right pad, right product, and alot of patience. I have corrected things I did not thing possible.
