Notchy manual?

I test drove a manual SS today & need some advice. The manual transmission seemed very notchy & jerky - is this normal? I have driven manuals for about 20 years so I'm sure it wasn't me. The manual car had about 40 miles on it. Will the manual changes loosen up when the clutch and transmission are broken in?

I found the manual shift to be pretty notchy feeling till around 2000 miles then it settled down a lot
Several other folks noted same

I do think that the shift needs to be improved and will be installing MGW shifter within next week or so for more precise shifts

Thanks for the advice - I am still deciding whether to go for the manual or automatic. I'll be doing a lot of driving in the city & the transmission seemed really jerky but I felt more connected to the car & the wonderful sound of the V8 was more pronounced. But the automatic felt so much smoother. I'll have to do some more test drives!

I have had the car for 2 weeks, jerky yes but it as I drive it I'm getting use to it, there are times I wish I would have bought the auto but only a weekend driver and I don't care about the mpg. But if your want better mpg or drive a lot in the city you might want to go with the auto.
