Door doesn't fit right??

I test drove a 2LT RS Camaro the yesterday and every time I opened the driver's door it made this odd clunking sound and kinda felt like it was about to fall off the hinges. Is that normal or just a problem with that one Camaro?

Other than that and the longish clutch, I loved the car. Great ride, good power, and once you position the side mirrors correctly the limited visibility isn't that much of a problem.

Check another car an see if it is the same...could just be that you aren't used to the indexing windows(windows go down slightly when you open the door then go back up when you close the door, likely the clunk you are hearing)..it has a odd feel/sound at first...

I don't think it was the windows. The door kind of "popped" out of the frame instead of just letting me push it open. Could just be that I'm just not used to it, but I've opened plenty of different doors in my day, and this one just did not sound or feel right. If it's supposed to do that, I could get used to it, but it was just really weird.

Pretty sure you are describing the indexiny glass. If you open the door quickly, before the glass has dropped, you can get the sound of the glass dragging on the molding as you pull or push it open.

And if you are used to indexing glass and that's what you are watching, you would probably think the door was dropping.

I've opened a lot of Camaro doors, passenger and driver and have never had one with a fit problem. The body fit and finish our of Oshawa is just one of the truly noticeably quality features on the Camaro.

Sounds normal to me...the doors do seem to "pop" open a little on their own...I thought it was weird too at first...I kind of thought it was cool though lol. Part of it is the window indexing and I think another part is the extra support post that alot cars don't have.....there are 2 posts on the door...which impressed me..adds to the structural strength of the car.
Like I said...check another car if it feels the same then what you are describing is normal...my bet is that it is.
And like Number3 said...body fit on these cars is really good for the price range. Look close at the body gaps(hood trunk, doors ect) on a 2010 Camaro, and how even they are, both along the gaps and front side to side....and then look close at other cars in the same price range..

Sounds reasonable. My Mazda has full frame doors, so I just pull the handle and push the door open. I was doing the same. I guess I'll have to just wait for the window to index itself before pushing the door open.
