It doesn't make sense to have it on either coast. If you have it in the middle, that means it is equal distance for all. Also, take into account the Canadian crowd. When you take everything into account, St.Paul/Minneapolis would be about the most central spot, but I am not sure if there is a place with a strip and place for autocross. With that being said Kansas City is probably the closest to being completely centrally located and having everything that is wanted...

I LOVE GM vehicles, and particularly Chevy's, but would buy any GM vehicle if I had the $$...Hopefully, one day, soon enough, a 5th Gen CAMARO! Dave_O

That would be my choice for a western track since Reno/Tahoe's track is closed and Vegas is just too expensive and too much hassle.
Dude...you sound like me!

Vegas....for those mentioning Vegas....have any of you actually looked into what it costs to rent just ONE track PER day??? 8,500 for a 1/4 mile track per day. Let's see...how to add again??....17,000 for two days of racing? And that is IT. That does not even include the fact that we want an autocross and other good stuff. That's too much money. WAAAY too much.

Firebird....

If we went here, I already have the hotels picked out where I would want to stay at. 3 HUGE hotels all right next to each other. Plus, MANY more within 1/4 mile.

And imagine what you could could be put together with more time to plan?
We won't force others to "settle," never bringing something as close as we can to their front door. How about we never come close to you again? How about you never take part in a C5F again? Dude...wouldn't that suck? I mean..wouldn't that really piss you off if we never came back to where you could attend? Even better, how about next year we hold it on the west and you can't go but you all put together a smaller even at SGMP. You get 1/4 the Vendors, you get no GM, maybe 3 hotels filled, AND your prices go up due to the fewer people attending. Sound good?

Nah...not by my standards.

I voted West Coast but Centeral would work too. I flew and rented a Maro. I knew the 1st Annual C5 F would be special and I needed to part of it. I would have to pass if it returned to Valdosta next year. I would only return if I could bring my "Pumpkin".

I live in Central so I'll vote central .... I think it would be best central somewhere so that it isn't such a drive from one or another coast ..

Wow, I think since Reno is closed, Firebird has my vote as well. They really do have EVERYTHING there. And 389 mi would be a nice cruise for us California boys!

If more people attend, lodging is going to be a little problem if we want to try to keep everyone at the same hotel. Parking wasn't enough, though it worked.

JMHO.

I don't know. Personally, I think it should be a semiannual event, once in the winter and once in the summer. In the winter cali (somewhere near LA) and vegas sounds good. You westerners should choose what's best over there.

In the summer, somewhere on the east coast sounds good. Since it was already in the southeast, this time around it should be in the northeast, specifically NY. Why? Am I rooting for NY because I live here? Sure, but if you guys want to come with family members who hate cars, NYC is one of the most significant tourist attractions in the states. First of all, madison square garden, rockefeller center, 5th ave., radio city, times square, statue of liberty, the NYC subway system, empire state building, wall street, carnegie hall, broadway, south street seaport, intrepid, central park, nbc studios, good morning america, governor's island, brooklyn, jersey shore, great adventure, peter luger's. And then for us car people there are three great tracks - monticello motor club, pocono speedway, lime rock park.

I mean is there another place on the east coast that can pull this off. Well yeah, valdosta, atlanta speedway, homestead miami. But why go back southeast when it was already done there before.

As for the west coast, as long as it's somewhere not to far from LA and las vegas so that I can go sightseeing, I'm happy

Five minutes away, up the interstate at Collinsville, IL is a group of hotels, restaurants etc, and even a large convention center if you would want to have something (GM displays, seminars, etc) indoors.

One of the best parts of having an event at Gateway is how easy it is to get there from almost anywhere, as several interstates intersect near there.

Of course, being near downtown St. Louis, lots to do.
That humidity is gonna choke out our cars...come to the desert..nice and dry
